2022 Under-The-Radar: Quarterbacks

There are over one million registered high school football players nationwide. As such, many elite student-athletes find themselves getting overlooked. In Indiana, the crop of football talent is quickly rising. As players continue to try to carve out their niche, we want to help put the spotlight on underrated players who have earned an opportunity. Over these next few weeks, we will be taking a look at all of the under-the-radar stars that are capable of big things this upcoming season. Feagin has tremendous mobility. He does extremely well to extend the play and he can tire out pass rushers. Feagin’s elusiveness provides his receivers ample time to get open. When they do get open, Feagin finds them. He has really good accuracy and control of each of his throws. [player_tooltip player_id="119227" first="Carter" last="St. John"], 6’0, 180 pounds, Bishop Chatard [player_tooltip player_id="119227" first="Carter" last="St. John"] is an accurate passer who sees the field very well. St. John makes really good reads. Not only does he have good arm strength and solid accuracy, he does not force throws into coverage and he stays away from throwing costly interceptions. St. John also does well running read-option and run-pass-option plays. He makes the correct read on the designated defender. St. John has the ability to hurt a team with his legs. [player_tooltip player_id="135749" first="Angel" last="Nelson"], 5’9, 175 pounds, Merrillville [player_tooltip player_id="135749" first="Angel" last="Nelson"] has the elite arm talent that would make him a great collegiate quarterback. Nelson throws a beautiful deep ball. He places the ball perfectly, giving the receiver the chance to catch the ball without breaking stride. Nelson can drive the ball to any spot on the field. [player_tooltip player_id="135749" first="Angel" last="Nelson"] puts his throws in positions where defenders cannot make a play on the ball. He makes the right read and finds open receivers. Nelson is an elite quarterback, that I believe would be the perfect fit for many college offenses. The quarterback position is the most important position in all of sports. That is why recruiters and coaching staffs place a serious emphasis on finding elite quarterback talent out of high school. These three players are student-athletes who can provide a serious contribution for any college program. All three of these prospects are elite quarterbacks, who will be ready to compete.
