<span style="font-weight: 400;">Northwestern is well aware of how close they came from a trip to the 5A state championship game last year, despite all of the disruptions due to COVID-19. They won seven games last year and for the most part, won comfortably.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Northwestern coach Page Wofford told Prep Redzone SC that the team is focused on “daily improvement while preparing for the 2021 season.” </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Trojans return most of their offensive stars from the 2020 season which includes a core of senior skill players beginning with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="89316" first="Will" last="Mattison"] and a trio of wide receivers [player_tooltip player_id="89332" first="Christian" last="Watkins"], [player_tooltip player_id="91200" first="Calique" last="Cunningham"] and [player_tooltip player_id="146372" first="Elijah" last="Caldwell"]-Peele. One of the top offensive linemen in our PRZ Class of 2023 rankings returns in [player_tooltip player_id="89343" first="Jordan" last="Knox"]. </span><b>Marcus Macon</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><b>Riley Macon </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">will also anchor the offensive line.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The front seven will also be strong for the Trojans on defense led by returning starters on the line in defensive end <strong>Isaac McClellan</strong> and lineman</span><b> Will Monroe</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">. <strong>Tay McCrorey</strong> and [player_tooltip player_id="122015" first="Michael" last="McMullen"] will anchor things in the secondary. Northwestern is in good hands on special teams as NC State commit [player_tooltip player_id="89310" first="Kanoah" last="Vinesett"] returns.</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Northwestern has a challenging slate of non-region games which includes a trip down I-85 to face Greenville before region play begins against Ridge View to begin the month of October. With the talent core that is returning, we expect them to make another run towards Williams-Brice this December.</span>
