Our updated 2022 and 2023 rankings have arrived! With that, loads of new content will be dropping on our site highlighting multiple new prospects who have landed themselves on our rankings. Find stock-risers, newcomers, and in-depth scouting reports all on our site!
In this piece, we will take a look at the top ten newcomers in our 2023 wide receiver group. These ten prospects have all debuted at spots ranging from 75-200. Some are names we’ve covered in the past, some are relatively new to the site.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="146545" first="Kyle" last="Williams"] | 6’0, 185lbs | Harrisburg | R/75</strong></em></span>
Williams may see a designation change, as he is much more than a WR or RB. This kid has made his presence known and left no question as to whether or not he should debut as a top 100 player in his class. Recruitment has somehow been underwhelming for the junior. That isn’t something he should worry about, as his play has put PrepRedzone on notice which will lead to extra exposure. We expect a highly productive season out of Williams. We will continue to monitor his development.

<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id="140018" first="Jeffrey" last="Penn"] | 6’3, 180lbs | Bishop McDevitt | R/86</em></strong></span>
Here is another wideout who is debuting in the top 100 of his class. [player_tooltip player_id="140018" first="Jeffrey" last="Penn"] out of Bishop McDevitt brings arguably the best build of any pass-catcher on this list. Penn’s spot on the list is a projection of where we expect him to be after this coming season. This kid is primed to jump onto the scene. It’s about putting the production on film and proving he belongs.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140965" first="Malachi" last="Moore"] | 5’11, 210lbs | Gateway R/104</strong></em></span>
Had the pleasure of seeing this kid run routes in person. He left me impressed with how well he moved for his size. He’s bulky and could even pass a between-the-tackles running back. There’s no questioning his hands. Will have another look at his development this coming weekend in Pittsburgh to see how he may have progressed. His measurables are in need of tuning as well. He is listed at 5’11 and a big 210 pounds, however, he apparently has slimmed down to 185 and now stands at 6’1. If the measurables stand true, that’s a physical improvement that will only help his stock.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140945" first="Kylon" last="Wilson"] | 5’9, 155lbs | Farrell | R/144</strong></em></span>
I was introduced to [player_tooltip player_id="140945" first="Kylon" last="Wilson"] at the Philly’s Finest 7v7 event earlier this year. He was absolutely torching defenders left and right. A little research and film study uncovered a prospect who was much deserving to be featured on our rankings. Speed and open-field elusiveness is this kid’s game. What intrigues me about Wilson is his room to develop into more than just a speedy wideout. Yes, his size may always be a question when projecting to the next level, yet that hasn’t stopped him from wrecking defenses or becoming ranked on our site. Further strength development will bode well for Kylon.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140963" first="Ahmir" last="Culmer"] | 6’3, 190lbs | McKeesport | R/154</strong></em></span>
Culmer is up there with [player_tooltip player_id="140018" first="Jeffrey" last="Penn"] as a developmental prospect who projects to dominate in large part because of his awesome build. We tend to overvalue size at the wideout spot but the risk isn’t over the reward of having a red zone threat that can highpoint balls. Like Penn, Culmer’s film and production are limited. Yet we expect a fresh start and a big season at McKeesport.

<em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140959" first="Julian" last="Arthur"] | 6’0, 160lbs | Norristown Area | R/157</strong></span></em>
[player_tooltip player_id="140959" first="Julian" last="Arthur"] has been covered on our site after his stellar United Ten Spring league season. This kid plays bigger than his measurables suggest, I was surprised to see him listed at just 6’0. He flat-out earned his spot on this list, as he also earned his spot as a 1st-team All-Conference WR selected by PrepRedzone this past May. An intriguing prospect who holds no offers currently.

<em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140964" first="Andrew" last="Mellis"] | 5’9, 180 | Pine-Richland | R/161</strong></span></em>
Mellis may be next-in-line to have a breakout junior campaign at Pine-Richland, much like [player_tooltip player_id="27631" first="Alex" last="Gochis"]. Hype has been made during the 7v7/camp season from February to now about just how good this kid may turn out. He’s a tad bit undersized but he carries enough weight to not be bullied by bigger DB’s. This is a potential stock-riser this fall as he begins to put more than 7v7 tape.
<em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="127816" first="Matthew" last="Cusatis"] | 6’0, 165 | Hazleton Area | R/162</strong></span></em>
Cusatis may be under-ranked as far as I’m concerned. He, like Mellis, has huge stock-riser potential this coming fall. Big-time playmaking ability as well as a quality defensive back. He’s alignment versatile and has track-star speed. The kid excels in Track and Field as well. I’d bet on Cusatis to be the highest riser when we reach our next update.
<em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="160507" first="Elijah" last="Cunningham"] | 6’0, 180 | Solanco | R/184</strong></span></em>
Was a pleasure watching Cunningham’s film for the first time. The trend continues of our backend wideouts showing they have just the same athleticism and pass-catching abilities as the players ranked above them. Don’t be fooled by the 184. The disparity in ranking is so close all the way from top to bottom. Cunningham has some ridiculous catches on film at both wideout and defensive back. His hands are too good to not be involved on both sides of the ball.
<em><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140974" first="Markese" last="Williams"] | 5’8, 140 | Pope John Paul | R/196</strong></span></em>
Last but not least is [player_tooltip player_id="140974" first="Markese" last="Williams"] out of PJP. He may be the biggest playmaker on this list. Highly productive kick and punt returner who is in his element when in the open field. He displays elite speed and acceleration. He’s a top 100 player if he can get into a strength development program and really fill out his pads.
