St. Thomas Aquinas has hosted a variety of schools for 7-on-7 action each Thursday throughout June.
A trio of other north shore area teams in Amite, Northshore and Pine visited the Falcons for the final week of the month.
Here are a half dozen of the most notable performances.
[player_tooltip player_id="136642" first="Jamarion" last="Dunomes"] — 5-10, 170 DB — Amite (2022)
The smaller, but Division-I athletic cornerback entered his final high school summer knowing the stakes were high in his quest for college scholarship offers after missing the his junior season with an injury. He’s hit both the camp circuit and the offseason workload hard and looked good on both sides of the ball Thursday with an interception and several pass breakups, as well as a few catches on offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="136480" first="Javae" last="Gilmore"] — 6-4, 190 ATH — Amite (2022)
Fresh off a strong camp showing at LSU the week before and on the tail end of a hectic travel month to Power Five programs around the country, Gilmore looked the part of the most highly touted prospect in attendance for the morning’s 7-on-7 action, stringing together one long receptions on offense and interception or deflection on defense after another.
Drew Milton — 5-9, 165 ATH — St. Thomas Aquinas (2022)
The all-district quarterback made a few nice throws to weapons like [player_tooltip player_id="136656" first="Danik" last="Reed"] and Devaki Williams and also covered a lot of ground on the back end of the Falcons defense, including at least one interception. His size will limit the ceiling of a potential college football landing spot, but Milton’s teammates and coaches touted him as a leader and winner who could be a great addition in the right fit.
[player_tooltip player_id="136656" first="Danik" last="Reed"] — 6-2, 185 DB — St. Thomas Aquinas (2022)
This year looms large for Reed, as well, as a good-looking athlete who has remained heavily under the radar after having to sit the fall following a transfer from St. Charles Catholic. He possesses Division-I size and athleticism and looked good as both a receiver and a defensive back. Reed finally picked up his first scholarship offer from Arkansas-Monticello recently.
Devaki Williams 6-1, 230 ATH — St. Thomas Aquinas (2022)
Another talented Falcons standout to recently pick up his first offer from Arkansas-Monticello. Williams is a big-bodied running back on offense, but looked good working out of the backfield for receptions, including surely hauling goal line passes in stride even despite contact and hitting a smooth spin to try to elude a defender. He also talked about his confidence in his performance at linebacker at the recent UAM camp.
[player_tooltip player_id="139495" first="Kyle" last="Williams"] — 5-10, 165 DB — Northshore (2024)
The rising sophomore may end up being in a similar stratosphere to Gilmore — with Power Five offers — by the time he reaches that point in his career. He’s a long, physical lockdown cornerback in his natural position on defense and was able to haul in a couple receptions on offense as well.
