The latter hosted John Ehret, McDonogh 35 and Eleanor McMain in the third week of action.
Here are a half dozen of the most notable performances, including at least one from each team.
Darrell DeMesme Darrell DeMesme 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Eleanor McMain | 2022 State LA — 6-1, 180 WR — Eleanor McMain (2022)
The Mustangs may have brought the most energy of any team to the field that evening and only continued to build momentum with deep strikes down the field toward the end zone. And the star with offers from Memphis, Kansas, Tennessee and Florida State was, as is usually the case, one of the key targets.
Tyrus Morris — 5-10, 165 WR — McDonogh 35 (2023)
The baby-faced rising junior had some big downfield plays up his own sleeve for his young Roneagles. On one jump ball to the end zone, the smaller target showed his ability to out-position a defensive back and go up and high-point a contested ball for the score. In-state programs LSU, Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana have started to monitor the speedy Morris.
Raemon Mosby Raemon Mosby 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Westlake | 2024 State GA — 5-10, 170 DB — John Ehret (2024)
The young defensive back helped set the tone for a strong evening for his Patriots with a leaping, extended interception at the goal line. His older teammates quickly touted him as one of the best defensive backs in his class, fresh off their freshman year. And, even with a seemingly strong group of rising sophomore, Mosby clearly looks to be in that conversation with guys like Warren Easton’s Wallace Foster IV Wallace Foster IV 5'11" | 160 lbs | DB Warren Easton | 2024 State LA and Northshore’s Kyle Williams Kyle Williams 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Northshore | 2024 State LA , among others.
Alavan Sam — 5-10, 170 DB — Hahnville (2023)
Even with a brace over his chest and shoulder as he works back from injury, the rising junior defensive back was reading plays and flying all over the defensive backfield and managed to break all the way to the sideline for sure-handed interception just before going out of bands.
Zavion Thomas — 5-11, 180 WR — John Ehret (2022)
Just a week after burning a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at LSU, the rising senior was blowing up attempted jams at the line — including putting a defensive back or two butt-first on the turf — and racing deep for wide-open scores. Thomas opened eyes early in the month with his speed, but he is also a tough, versatile athlete with strength and aggressiveness beyond his size.
Dakota Williams Dakota Williams 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Hahnville | 2023 State LA — 6-1, 195 WR — Hahnville (2023)
The Tigers’ tall target has worked hard the past year and a half to improve his hands to go with the size and athleticism that had him on the field as a freshman. And, in the absence of rising senior leader Troy Kendrick Troy Kendrick 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Hahnville | 2022 State LA , he was able to lead the way with a handful of scores of Hahnville. Williams’ continued development will be a key storyline to watch for the team this season and potentially for Louisiana’s wide receiver class in 2023.
