Their roster is composed with loads of talent, and this can be seen in each of their classes of students. This upcoming season, we are very excited to see what this team can accomplish, and with that, what some of it’s talent may develop into. Below, we listed a few players in which you should check out from their team. You certainly will not be disappointed.
Duke Scott- RB
Last season, Scott saw time on offense as a true freshman, and to say the very least, he did not disappoint. Even though he has a bit of a small frame and size, we feel his play spoke for itself. Not only did he run with great balance, and power in his legs, but he was consistent in his ability to make defenders miss, whether he was doing so by turning the corner, or putting his foot in the ground and getting vertical. We are very impressed with the way he keeps his legs moving on contact, and is able to get in and out of his cuts very quickly. He is an all around back, and proves to be good in short yardage situations, but can also switch gears and make big time plays. In 2021, he should see a break out season.
Bryce Bonner- WR
One of the traits that leaps off of the screen about Bonner is his ability to play with good vision. Not only does this help him to find good creases when returning the football, but it also helps him to be able to read defenders when he looks to make plays after the catch. Bonner may be a bit raw in his overall route running ability, but we like the way he is able to to track the ball with his eyes from various angles, and attack the football with his hands. After the catch, Bonner is also a big time play maker, as he is able to turn on the jets and pick up positive yards, even if he has to do so by making defenders miss. Bonner possesses big play ability, and next season, we expect it to continue to be on full display as he continues to use his twitch, speed, and burst to his advantage.
Shelton Lewis- S
Lewis, who is a 2023 DB prospect, plays really good instinctive football. Not only does he play with good awareness of the game, but he has the twitch, and speed to be able to maneuver fluidly to various levels of the field. Lewis also does a good job of taking decent angles when coming up to make tackles, and this can be seen in the way he is able to make effective stops at, or behind the line of scrimmage. Lewis uses his hands and arms well too, which helps him to be physical against opposing offensive players. Next season, to take a leap in his progression, we would like to see him continue to work on his burst out of his breaks, and the consistency in his ball skills.
Isaiah Johnson- LB / WR
Johnson may be a bit of a raw LB prospect, but we like the way he reads the run, and is not afraid to come up and make tackles. Johnson plays with decent leverage when making stops, and he also plays very light on his feet. He can appear to be lost in space at times, but his reactionary skills can be pretty effective if he is focused on his assignments. Johnson uses good strength and physicality when engaging opposing players, but we would like to see him move quicker in short area situations. Lucky enough for Johnson, he plays the offensive side of the ball as well, in which he is able to use his burst to his advantage, especially after the catch. This contributes to positive yardage on the ground, in which he is able to use his aggressive playing style to his advantage.
