Prep Redzone looks at some of the Stock Risers in New Jersey’s class of 2022. Today, we look at several linebackers that just missed making the cut for the most recent rankings update. After looking at some more film, Prep Redzone has its eyes on several linebackers for the next Class of 2022 rankings update.
[player_tooltip player_id="28039" first="Aiden" last="Moriarty"]/6-2/Rumson-Fair Haven
They credited Moriarty with 60 total tackles and seven sacks in the seven games he played in during the 2020 season. We’ll have to hold off on ranking him because his school has his highlights set to private.
[player_tooltip player_id="28031" first="Bobby" last="Colaneri"]/5-10/Becton
Colaneri made 37 tackles during the 2020 season. We hope they do not set his highlights to private during the next update.
[player_tooltip player_id="28047" first="CJ" last="Resto"]/6-1/195/Cedar Creek
Resto was one of the best defensive players on his team last season. He racked up 93 total tackles (49 solo) and sacked the quarterback three times. He does a great job of attacking the ball with high velocity. He’s a solid blitzer up the middle against the pass and run.
[player_tooltip player_id="27996" first="Jackson" last="Collins"]/6-0/205/Seton Hall
Collins produced a solid junior year season. He made 73 tackles (11 solo) in six games. I would like to see the number of solo tackles go up for him during his senior season. His best trait is his ability to make tackles against the run. Collins will have to improve his speed and agility.
[player_tooltip player_id="28035" first="John" last="Walsh"]/5-10/Montville
Walsh made 40 total tackles and sacked the quarterback twice during his junior year season. Despite being undersized, he was an all-league selection last season. Walsh is good at fighting off blocks to make tackles against the run. I would like to see more film of him in coverage.
[player_tooltip player_id="28026" first="Marcus" last="Granadeiro"]/5-11/215/South River
Granadeiro racked up 76 total tackles in seven games last season. His is a three-year starter who earned All-Conference honors during the 2020 season. He has a 4.1 GPA. I’d like to see him play faster on the football field. Granadeiro needs to work on his acceleration.
[player_tooltip player_id="28003" first="Parker" last="Williamson"]/5-11/165/Sparta
Williams sacked the quarterback four times and made 33 total tackles during the 2020 season. We hope he has his 2020 season highlights completed before the next rankings update.
[player_tooltip player_id="28022" first="Stephen" last="Gural"]/6-1/200/Phillipsburg
Gural made 58 total tackles and recovered two fumbles in seven games last season. Like the other middle linebackers on this list, Gural’s strong suit is defending against the run.
[player_tooltip player_id="28024" first="Trevor" last="Hillier"]/6-2/195/West Morris
Hillier had an impressive junior year campaign. He made 63 total tackles and forced two fumbles in eight games last season. He's another athlete who will need updated highlights before the next rankings update.
