Prep Redzone looks at some of the Stock Risers in Maryland’s 2022 recruiting class. Today, we look at several offensive linemen that just missed making the cut for the most recent rankings update. After looking at some more film, Prep Redzone has its eyes on several offensive linemen for the next Class of 2022 rankings update.
Note: COVID-19 is the reason teams either played a few or no games during the 2020-21 season.

They cut his junior year season short to two games because of the pandemic. He’s climbed onto the radar within the last couple of months due to him being able to get some things on film. I think he plays too far forward as a run blocker. Fitzgerald is a big and strong kid. He only has two games worth of film so it’s understandable why there isn’t a lot of pancake blocks in his highlights. I think Fitzgerald does a good job of punching and re-setting his hands when he’s pass-protecting. His massive frame makes if hard for defenders to get around him. Has to work on his footwork and agility. I can see him being moved to the inside at the next level.
James Williams Jr./6-3/268/Offensive Guard/National Christian Academy
Williams has offers from Kent State, Maryland, Massachusetts, Toledo, and Virginia. He does not have any film from the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic shutting his season down. So, we had to go to Williams’ film from the 2019 season. He makes an excellent case to be recruited as either an offensive or defensive lineman. From what I saw, he could easily be good on either side at the next level. If I had to choose, I believe he’ll have a bigger upside playing either the center or guard position. I love what I saw from him in his highlights when he lined up at center. Williams has excellent snap-to-step quickness and explodes into opposing linemen. He plays with bend and leverage. Williams has a healthy nasty streak and finishes blocks with aggressiveness more often than not. He has a compact and stiff pass punch. Athletic enough to block in space if needed. He may not have long arms but he has a powerful core.
