Welcome to another edition of our Statewide watch list series, where we take a look at a few prospects from around the state, regardless of classification, that you need to keep your eye on. There’s a defensive back in the Midlands who doesn’t appear to have any offers as of now, but we think that could change. If you missed last week’s edition of the series, check it out here.
Quarterback
Ben Hill Jr., Lakewood (2022)

Junior Hudl highlight film
Analysis – Hill excels in making throws on the run and has a nice velocity to his throws. He put the ball in the middle of the field, as we saw on film, to where only his receiver can catch it, which led to a touchdown. He can also make some plays running the ball as well in picking up a few yards while running some people over with his 6’2 frame in the process to help the offense stay on schedule. He is an outstanding student with a 4.413 GPA.
Tight End / Defensive End

Analysis – There’s no doubt Smith is built like a tight end, listed at 6’5, 205 pounds. He can make catches and get yards after the catch for a huge gain, like we saw on film. He’s got nice speed on him and blocks well at the LOS. He can use his frame to shield himself against defenders.
Defensive Back
Chancellor Lorick, Blythewood (2022)
@ChanceLorick (Twitter)
Junior Hudl highlight film
Analysis – Lorick is an instinctive corner who excels at making tackles in space and in the open field. He has quick play recognition and he defeats blocks quickly to make tackles. When it comes to man coverage, he can stay stride for stride with the receiver and he showed the ability to recover quick. The quick game doesn’t really work against him because of that ability to recognize plays.
Running Back
Julian Mulligan, Westwood (2022)
@Julmil_17 (Twitter)
Sophomore Hudl highlight film
Analysis – Mulligan only played in one game in 2020 but he is one of the more patient and physical running backs that we have seen in film evaluations. He moves well in between the tackles and he can catch the ball out of the backfield and has the speed to get up field quickly. He runs with low pad level and does not go down after initial contact.
