To start, they compete against teams such as Buford, Habersham Central, and Dacula each season. Last year, to finish the year, the Generals had a 3-7 overall record, with a 2-4 record within their region. While we also think a part of this has to do with the fact that they were competing during a COVID year, with less time to prepare, we also understand that their competition was certainly stiff as well. This upcoming season though, look for Shiloh to improve in many ways, including within their win and loss column. Below, we have listed a few players who we think will help them do so.
Ryan Green- LB
One thing about Green that leaps off of the screen right away is his ability to come downhill, take angles, and make plays in the backfield. Even though he can arm tackle a little more than we like, there is no doubt that he is a very productive player in pursuit. Green sniffs out the run well, and shows that he can play well to his assignment. One may notice that he is also a bit of a bulkier backer, which is great for stopping the run, but can also hold him up with speed and agility when looking to change direction, or potentially play the pass. Next season, we want to see Green play more fluidly, especially in passing situations. Any athleticism that he can show to eliminate any narrative of stiff movement will certainly help him a great deal in recruitment.
Isaac Prince- LB
Even though Prince appears to move a bit stiffly at times as well, he appears to have a little more wiggle to his movement, which ultimately helps him to adjust, and break down well when stopping ball carriers. Just like Green, Prince also takes good tackling angles, and it shows that he has good burst, and gears of speed to his game. He wraps up well with his arms, and is not afraid to play with his hands at times, which is certainly very effective when engaging opposing players on contact. Prince also shows good short area quickness, and this is proven by the way he is constantly able to get to the QB, and work around linemen. We also like the way that he plays aggressive football. This certainly helps due to the position in which he plays.
Damon Gaskin- DE
Off of the ball, Gaskin is not easy to stop, especially due to the speed that he displays on his get off. Even though he can play a bit high at times, he does a good of pairing his burst off of the ball with his use of hands, and pass rush moves. Gaskin does a good job of engaging on contact as well, and being able to adjust to ball carriers sudden movements. One thing we also like about Gaskin’s game is the fact that he uses his length and reach to his advantage, which helps him to be effective, no matter which hole the ball carrier chooses to take, or even if they choose to bounce outside. This season, we think Gaskin will continue to be effective for his team, but we would like to see him become more polished in his movement skills, as to eliminate unnecessary wasted movement.
Brice Pollock- CB
Just based off of this list, one can easily assume that the strength of the team’s returning players certainly lies on the defensive side of the ball. While Pollock is only a 2023 prospect, it is good to see that he has already gotten his feet wet with competing at the varsity level for the Generals, and can contribute in multiple ways. As a sophomore, he showed flashes of ability, as he had no problem going up to attack the ball, as well as play the receiver tightly in press man coverage. Pollock showed that he not only has great body control, but he has fast reactionary skills, especially out of his breaks. We like the way that he already shows good bend in his hips, and can turn and run very effectively. This tends to be rare of young players his age. As a tackler, Pollock already shows that he can step up to the plate because he comes up and makes plays, and takes good angles on ball carriers and receivers. Next season, expect him to continue to produce at a high level, and potentially break out, especially if he can continue to work on his use of hands and feet.
