As most know Player of the Year Honors always has a lot to do with the team’s success and how they finish the season. This isn’t just referencing recruiting and where that player is ranked. Check the list below with the season just a few short months away
<strong>4A OFFENSE</strong>
1.[player_tooltip player_id="28902" first="Dom" last="Montiel"] 6-3 185 QB 22’ Marshfield- Montiel is the real deal and has a stock that is rising quickly. He had a phenomenal spring hitting on 65% passes and accounting for 25 total TD’s (22 passing Tds/4 INTs). Look for him to be a heavy favorite for 4A POY Honors.
2.[player_tooltip player_id="28852" first="Lucas" last="Tuski"] 6-0 215 RB 22’ Marist- Tuski has had back-to-back big seasons and has a real shot to be the POY. He averaged 118 yards per game during the spring, rushing for 12 TDs in 6 games. He is a big tough back who can move and will be difficult for 4A competition to contain.
3.[player_tooltip player_id="144438" first="DJ" last="Daugherty"] 5-11 170 CB/WR 22’ Marshfield-Daugherty went off as a junior and is one of the top dual threat athletes in Oregon regardless of classification. He led the state at the 4A level with 10 receiving TDs and projects as a 1000+ yard receiver next season.
4.[player_tooltip player_id="28898" first="Jamar" last="Flippen"] 5-10 175 ATH 22’ Banks- Big fan of this kid. He broke out as a Sophomore and followed that up nicely last season, averaging 7.4 yards per carry with 8 total TDs in 6 games. Flippen is an all-purpose threat and If you can get him 20 touches a game, they will be tough for anyone to beat.
5.[player_tooltip player_id="147250" first="Brayde" last="Owen"] 6-1 185 ATH 23’ Gladstone- Owen earned 1st team all-league honors at DB as a Sophomore, and can beat most people with his feet on offense, impressing with his speed. Look for him to do a multitude of things offensively and be the featured athlete for the Gladiators.
<strong>4A DEFENSE</strong>
1.[player_tooltip player_id="144438" first="DJ" last="Daugherty"] 5-11 170 CB/WR 22’ Marshfield- Daugherty led the state in INTs (5) during the Spring. It’s incredibly rare for any athlete to lead the state in multiple categories on both sides of the football, to put his overall athleticism into perspective.
2.[player_tooltip player_id="28867" first="Ezra" last="Waterman"] 5-11 205 RB/LB 22’ Marshfield- This kid was all over the place at his LB spot during the spring, racking up 74 total tackles with 13 tackles for loss in 6 games. He ran the ball well at RB but should be dominant defensively.
3.[player_tooltip player_id="28899" first="Charlie" last="White"] 6-3 225 LB/TE 22’ Banks- One of the most impressive big athletes in Oregon, regardless of classification. White projects on D but was incredibly impressive on offense. He totaled 45 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and 4 pass deflections. Offensively he caught 9 TDs in 6 games on 33 catches. Very versatile.
4.[player_tooltip player_id="28847" first="Kale" last="Paslay"] 6-4 280 DT Marist- Paslay will be dominant on the interior, racking up 25 total tackles with 2 tackles for loss and 2 sacks last year. He earned 1st team all-league honors on both sides of the football and will offset numbers requiring a consistent double team.
5.[player_tooltip player_id="28898" first="Jamar" last="Flippen"] 5-10 175 ATH 22’ Banks- Just a super talented athlete who will be a disrupter in the secondary. Flip had 26 total tackles, with 4 deflections and an INT. If a team has an opposing threat at WR he will lock him down.
