I enjoyed covering the National Preps Collegiate Showcase on Saturday in Bermuda Run, NC. Jeff Mullen and his staff did a great job hosting the camp which was well-run and organized. My colleague, Will Helms is going to cover the offensive players. I observed a lot of talented football players participating at the camp. I am going to cover the defensive players who caught my attention with their performances competing in various drills.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="143171" first="No’Tavien" last="Green"], DE, 6’2", 210, New Bern HS</strong>. No’Tavien displayed good lateral movement and footwork while participating in the cone. He had good balance and reaction time moving quickly through the agility drills. The recruiting interest will pick up for him as he continues to gain weight and starts the summer camp circuit.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="104095" first="Brayden" last="Manley"], LB, 6’2", 230, West Craven HS</strong>. Brayden moved quickly and with power while participating in the cone drill. He had good footwork and fluid lateral movement. Brayden performs at a high-energy level and covers a lot of ground quickly. The D1 offers should start to come in for him as he starts the summer camp circuit.
<strong>Carsten Casady, DE, 6’6", 270, Rolesville HS</strong>. Carsten is a tall, mobile player who covers a lot of ground quickly. He displayed good use of hands while moving forward with power attacking the bags. Carsten has good mobility and good agility for a big man. The recruiting interest should start to pick up for him as he starts the summer camp circuit.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98108" first="Angeni" last="Jacobs"], LB, 6’2", 220, Christ School</strong>. Angeni displayed good lateral movement and footwork while participating in the cone drill. He performs at a high-energy level and moves forward with power and speed. Angeni has good balance and reaction time while participating in agility drills. The recruiting interest should start to pick up for him as he starts the summer camp circuit.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="122674" first="John" last="Balas"], LB, 6’2", 215, Providence HS</strong>. John displayed very good footwork and lateral movement while participating in the cone drill. He explodes from a starting position and covers a lot of ground quickly. John ran a 4.61 sec. 40 (hand-timed). He has good balance and agility. The recruiting interest should start to pick up as he starts the summer camp circuit.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154613" first="Semaj" last="Turner"], DE, 6’3", 230, Reagan HS</strong>. He displayed quickness and good lateral movement while participating in the cone drill. Semaj footwork was good and reaction time was good while changing directions in the agility drill. He has good balance and covers a lot of ground quickly. Semaj is getting ready to start the summer camp circuit which should generate some recruiting interest.
