Continue ReadingSpring practice is over, but that doesn’t mean the action is stopping anytime soon in the state of Georgia. Players are staying as active as ever, and this is the time of the year when schools start to get some 7-on-7 work in across the state. With more offenses throwing the ball around, 7-on-7 is a great way for QBs and their WRs to build some chemistry and develop together in the off-season. It also gives defensive backs a chance to refine their skills and line up against some tough competition in the off-season. The Corky Kell 7-on-7 tournament is one of the biggest in the entire off-season, and this year’s tournament will feature some of the state’s best QBs and WRs.
Here are a few WRs to know about in this weekend’s tournament…
Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA – Collins Hill
We have to start the list by talking about the best overall athlete in the entire country. It’s safe to say there won;t be anyone able to stop Hunter from scoring touchdowns all day on Friday. The elite athlete led the state in receiving last year with 1,746 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was unstoppable last fall, and he’ll be unstoppable again during this Corky Kell tournament. Not only does he have one of the nations’ best QBs throwing him the ball, but his overall athleticism and ball skills make him tough to stop no matter who is throwing his way. Expect Hunter to bring in some highlight-reel grabs on Friday.
Oscar Delp Oscar Delp 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2022 State GA – West Forsyth
He might be a tight end, but make no mistake, Delp is one of the best pass-catchers in the state. The 6-foot-5 220-pounder is a big target who runs routes like a receiver. He changes directions well for his size and is athletic enough to make a tough catch when he needs too. He has strong hands, can make the tough catch in traffic, and is a huge weapon in the red-zone. He’ll be targeting early and often by West Forsyth this weekend.
Kojo Antwi Kojo Antwi 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Lambert | 2022 State GA – Lambert
One of the more explosive players in the country, Antwi is going to be tough to handle for just about every defensive back he’s lined up against. He’s incredibly quick, twitchy, and can create separation with ease. He can take a short underneath route the distance, but he also knows how to get behind defenses and make a big play down the field. He’s fast, explosive, and can change direction with ease. He holds offers from just about every program in America for a reason, and he’s going to show why he’s one of the nation’s best in the 2022 class during the tournament.
Jackson Head Jackson Head 6'3" | 210 lbs | TE River Ridge | 2023 State GA – River Ridge
One of the more underrated players in the state, Head is a dynamic pass catcher who can line up just about anywhere on offense. At 6-foot-3 215-pounds, Head is a big target who moves really well for his size. He made big play after big play all season for River Ridge last year, catching 36 passes for 657 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was the go-to receiver last year as a sophomore, and big things are expected from him this fall as a junior. Look for him to be one of the standout playmakers this Friday.
