Mississippi prospects have been in travel mode this past month. With camps all over the southeast this summer, it’s been great to see some of the state’s most slept on players start to make a name for themselves in the recruiting world. Some have emerged at our in-state universities’ prospective camps, while others have shown out at 7v7 tournaments and other notable camps.
Standing out at the Ole Miss camp, 2023 WR [player_tooltip player_id="108979" first="Isaiah" last="Spencer"] measured in at 6’0" 174 with good arm length and hand size as well. Spencer blazed through the 40 yard dash with a 4.58 on his only attempt there. This is a guy that should blow up soon. He’s got great ball skills and can catch anything thrown his way. Playing with 2023 QB [player_tooltip player_id="108930" first="Vic" last="Sutton"] will only add to his play on the field this year. 2024 DL [player_tooltip player_id="139601" first="Jimothy" last="Lewis"] was in attendance and kicked off his recruitment with his first SEC offer from the Rebels. Lewis stands tall at 6’7" and has incredible athleticism for his size. Since then, Lewis has become one of the hottest 2024 names to know.

Delta State’s camps have attracted many prospects this summer. 2022 OL [player_tooltip player_id="104391" first="Markel" last="Bell"] from Cleveland Central preformed well enough to earn himself his first Division 1 offer from the Fighting Okra. The mammoth offensive tackle has the size and athleticism to make a huge difference for any offensive line in the country. Bell is a naturally strong and tough kid as well. 2023 DL Jaylon Price was another big man who stood out. Price didn’t get to play his sophomore season due to COVID-19, but his freshman season showed a prospect that has legit Power 5 upside. He’s extremely long and athletic with a quick first step that is hard for offensive linemen to deal with.

Mississippi State’s Top Dawg was filled with Prep Redzone standouts. 2023 LB [player_tooltip player_id="106769" first="Alex" last="Sanford"] has shown improvement to his overall athleticism. The hard-hitting linebacker preformed well in individual drills and is due for a big junior season. Inside backers like him show their real talents under the lights on Fridays. Sanford currently lists an offer from the Ole Miss Rebels, but many other schools could join them soon. 2022 RB [player_tooltip player_id="104153" first="Cameron" last="Young"] was in attendance as well. Young has clocked a 4.51 hand timed 40 earlier this offseason, and looks to have added good muscle weight for his senior year. 2022 DL [player_tooltip player_id="104418" first="Jaheim" last="Oatis"] looked like a man among boys. Oatis is a very large human being who can bend well and change direction fluidly. He is an NFL caliber player with loads of upside to him.

Southern Miss has put a huge emphasis on in-state recruiting this cycle, so it was no surprise that the bulk of their attendees were from the state of Mississippi. 2023 OL [player_tooltip player_id="108896" first="Luke" last="Rogers"] earned his first in-state offer from the Golden Eagles after a great performance. Rogers is the younger brother of current Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers, but is set to create his own legacy over his final two seasons in high school. He bends well and is a nasty run blocker in space. Southern Miss wasn’t done with offering prospects however. 2024 QB John White earned his first as well following a camp performance. White was a varsity starter last season and looks like he could be one of the top quarterback prospects in his class. He throws a clean and accurate ball and has the athleticism to take off. 2022 LB [player_tooltip player_id="104473" first="Jordan" last="Allen"] was also in attendance and looked every bit of 6’4". This guy can run and has the length to be incredibly disruptive in passing lanes.
