Despite the offense’s struggles Team Maryland’s defense stood strong and played an outstanding game. These players sparked Team Maryland’s impressive defensive performance.
<strong>Marcel Mami </strong>
Mami played just as well as expected. He showed his sideline to sideline ability as he ran and chased ball carriers across the field. Mami also showed that he has is also great in pass coverage as he played the flats well. He is a real sideline to sideline backer that you can keep in on nickel and dime packages, expect him to make an instant impact at St. Francis next year.

Akingbestoe was easily the best defensive lineman for Team Maryland. He was wreaking havoc in the backfield. He showed he had a very quick get-off that allowed him to get in the backfield in a blink of an eye. He also showed that he has great hands and was able to shed and get off blocks with ease. Maryland is getting a real stud.

Jones showed that he can be a true cover corner. He showed great coverage ability as he was manned up all day and stayed solid through the whole game. He also showed that he has the ability to press as he lined up in press and was still able to have great coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id="90400" first="Tre" last="Jordan"] was very impressive, so impressive that he won Team Maryland MVP. Jordan showed 2 things that really jumped out. His speed and explosiveness were next level and were on display not only on defense but on special teams as well. Jordan used his explosiveness to come downfield and make big hits and tackles in the run game as a safety. He also showed off that explosiveness during punt returns. He even blocked a kick with his pure speed. Jordan is fun to watch and will be an elite player at the FCS level.
