The rankings are here, and there are some big time players at the top of the list. What landed these guys as the top 5 QB's? Take a look on at the breakdown on why these gunslingers are the top 5 2022 QB's in Washington: [player_tooltip player_id="87314" first="JP" last="Zamora"], 6’4" 190lbs, Chiawana *Junior Film The Utah commit is a dual-threat QB wit the ability to bust the game open through the air or on his feet. He displays solid vision with good top end speed for big play ability. Talented passer as he is poised and collected in the pocket. He delivers with a smooth release and does an excellent job fitting in throws with touch and placement. Zamora does a great job at variating his release timing, as he gets the ball out quick and accurate when facing pressure. He displays an excellent pre-snap read to identify coverages pre-snap to know where he’s going with the ball, possessing a high football IQ. He excelled as a deep ball passer and will only continue to make plays, earning him the #1 overall QB ranking. [player_tooltip player_id="87345" first="Jackson" last="Esary"], 6’3" 210lbs, Kalama *Junior Film Esary sizes up with a strong frame and build and possesses a natural arm talent. He shows a good pre-snap read, often identifying mismatches on the outsides. He has excellent arm strength all across the board to stretch the field vertically, fit in tight window throws, or zip in field side out routes. He can hit all 3 levels of throws with velocity, and also utilizes touch when needed with a good trajectory on deep balls. His ability to throw off platform is highly impressive, as he has multiple off-platform throws on film that will "wow" you. He can make plays on his feet as well, showing good top end speed in space and brings solid physicality at the POC. [player_tooltip player_id="87368" first="Joshua" last="Wood"], 6’3" 185lbs, Graham-Kapowsin *Junior Film Wood sizes up with an athletic frame and holds strong potential with a high ceiling. His best trait is his ability to manipulate DB’s with eyes. He has shown to open up the entire back half of the field by doing so. Wood displays smooth footwork in pocket and has shown the ability to escape and extend plays when the pocket collapses. When leaving the pocket, he’s shown to deliver accurate throws on the run in both directions. He delivers with a fluid release with good accuracy overall. Wood has flashed the ability to utilize velocity on tight windows and out routes, which he will need to translate to the next level. Very good all-around athlete as he lands the #3 QB spot. [player_tooltip player_id="151857" first="Isaac" last="Madrigal"], 6’3" 185lbs, Davis *Junior Film Madrigal has had a very eventful high school career. He spent his first two seasons at West Valley, then transferred to Cesar Chavez in Arizona for his junior year, now he comes back to Washington and will play at Davis High. He’s a dual-threat kid that is equally dangerous on the ground as he is through the air. He displays solid top end speed for big play ability with good COD to make opponents miss in space. He runs the RPO very well as he makes accurate reads and throws well out of the mesh, selling the run very well. As a passer, he steps up in the pocket and delivers with a smooth over the top release with excellent placement on most throws. Flexible upper half with good arm strength and good potential going forward. [player_tooltip player_id="151869" first="Logan" last="Rodriguez"], 6’1" 175lbs, Sunnyside *Junior Film Rodriguez did a great job for Sunnyside during his short junior campaign. He shows a good pre-snap read and also reads coverages well and identifies the soft spots. He does a great job getting the ball out quick when he needs to on slants, flats, and outs. He has shown the ability to fit in tight window throws in the middle of the field with some velocity. Rodriguez has shown the ability to use touch on deep balls and throw receivers open as well. He can extend plays and does a great job improvising, earning him the #5 spot on the QB rankings.
