There was some incredibly high quality football being played this past Spring, and it seems only fitting to begin putting the spotlight on those position players who shined in such a short amount of time. The following top five ranks the best tight ends from across the DMV area.
#5 2022 6’1 185 [player_tooltip player_id="90617" first="Christian" last="Gamble"] – Sidwell Friends
[player_tooltip player_id="90617" first="Christian" last="Gamble"] is undoubtedly the Fighting Quakers’ most dynamic player on both sides of the ball. From free safety to running back, and of course tight end, Christian does it all and with incredible consistency. On offense, his play making ability is jaw-dropping, and what really stands out when you watch him is his yards after contact. His speed combined with his large frame makes him almost impossible to guard, especially in one on one matchups. D1 scouts and programs should most certainly watch out for [player_tooltip player_id="90617" first="Christian" last="Gamble"] to have more breakout games this Fall.
#4 2023 6’4 210 [player_tooltip player_id="90661" first="Riley" last="Foran"] – DeMatha
[player_tooltip player_id="90661" first="Riley" last="Foran"] is an absolute workhorse and there’s nobody who works harder during the offseason than he does. As a sophomore, he proved himself above and beyond against elite competition in a powerhouse conference. His route running and speed for his size really separates him from the pack in the 2023 class. Riley is an above average blocker on the offensive line as well, which will also open up opportunities for him to display his play making capabilities. [player_tooltip player_id="90661" first="Riley" last="Foran"] is sure to have a huge Fall season for the Stags, as they attempt to claim yet another WCAC title.

#3 2022 6’4 230 [player_tooltip player_id="90614" first="Jeremiah" last="Franklin"] – Walkersville – Boston College
If you’re looking for a flex tight end with incredible speed off the snap then look no further than [player_tooltip player_id="90614" first="Jeremiah" last="Franklin"]. The Boston College commit just posted a 4.68 40 yard dash this past Spring which supplants his status as an incredibly well-rounded receiver. The Walkersville Lions’ star is also a dominant force on the offensive line. [player_tooltip player_id="90614" first="Jeremiah" last="Franklin"] will make an immediate impact at Boston College next year, but first he’s in line to finish his high school tenure in sublime fashion with Walkersville this Fall. Get your popcorn ready because this ACC bound phenom is going to put on a show!
#2 2022 6’5 225 [player_tooltip player_id="90618" first="Joshua" last="Jennings"] – Good Counsel
Josh Jennings is the most quintessential tight end in this top five. Even with inconsistent quarterbacking this past Spring, Jennings showed his remarkable catch and run capabilities. When you watch Josh he always seems to find the open space down field. His route running is truly superb and it’s because of his high football IQ and incredible instincts for the game. His size also makes him incredibly useful for run blocking which will be an integral part of the Falcons’ game plan this upcoming season. The WCAC should be on notice that Josh Jennings and Good Counsel are coming into the Fall season more confident and poised than ever, especially after their Spring season upset victory over the #1 ranked St. Frances Academy Panthers.
#1 2022 6’3 225 [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] – Gonzaga
[player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] is one of the most dynamic football players in the area. His pass catching is next to un-guardable at this level and he blocks better than anyone else on this list. What makes Nate so special is his big time play making ability. Time and time again he delivers for the Purple Eagles, and a lot of his chunk plays are picked up after contact. [player_tooltip player_id="90516" first="Nate" last="Kurisky"] is a football player at his core and it will be truly special to watch he and the Purple Eagles compete this Fall in an attempt to extend their undefeated Spring season.
