Players are getting better and better at an earlier age, and many have been training with specialized professionals throughout the off-season. It’s a year-round grind for some players, which gives them an advantage as they enter their high school career. The state is loaded with talent once again, and the 2025 class is starting to look very talented early on.
Here are a few incoming freshman players to know for the 2021 season…
Luke Nickel – Milton
It’s one of the top programs in the entire state, and they play one of the toughest schedules in 7A. The Milton Eagles are a proud program, but is there a chance freshman QB Luke Nickel could see some time? IF he does, it might have to be in mop-up duty as senior Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA is the team’s starter, but if Nickel does see some action this year, there’s a chance he could really impress. His older brother, Jack Nickel Jack Nickel 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Milton | 2022 State GA , is a three-star tight end in the 2022 class, and Luke has a chancew to be a high-caliber prospect as well. The 6-foot-1 190-pounder is a two-time “Born 2 Compete” Georgia Player of the Year and is coming off a great 8th grade season where he threw for over 1,200 yards, rushed for over 1,000 yards, and scored 28 total touchdowns. He’s easily a player to know in the class of 2025.
Jaylen Bell – Grayson
Don’t look now, but the Grayson Rams are in re-building mode, and many are talking about their incoming freshman from New Jersey. The talented athlete is still looking for a future position to call home as he can make plays both on offense as a receiver and on defense as a defensive back. Many project the 5-foot-11 150-pounder to play cornerback due to his current size, quickness, and overall athleticism. He already holds three D1 offers including ones from Georgia, Florida State, and Ole Miss. If he’s able to see the field a ton as a freshman for a program like Grayson, the sky is the limit for his potential over the next few years. He’s a young freshman to know in 7A.
Antwan Hill – Houston County
Another elite QB to know, the Middle Georgia star comes from a big football family and has great size for his age already at 6-foot-4 205-pounds and really knows how to run. He’s full of raw athleticism and has the size and arm talent to make an immediate impact next year. He’s a very gifted athlete and is incredibly mobile. He can hurt defenses with his legs already, but is he can continue to develop as a passer and improve his arm strength and accuracy over the next few years, Hill could push for 5-star status in the 2023 class. He already holds early offers from Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Bryce Hudson – Grayson
Another young talent for the Rams, Hudson is a big tackle prospect who many in the area are already raving about. He might not be able to win a starting job on the offensive line next year, but the incoming freshman has a chance to have a great career due to his 6-foot-4 280-pound frame and ability to move. An FBU All-Star, Hudson has played at a high-level throughout his youth days and has plenty of experience already as it relates to playing the best of the best of his age group. He’ll have a chance to impress some college coaches this summer and possibly see some early interest to come his way.
