Whether you’re in the Hapeville/College Park area, or down around Stone Mountain, or up north towards the suburbs, some of the best talent in the entire country is from the Atlanta and metro area. Lots of exceptional defensive linemen in particular are from the Atlanta area, and there are more and more each week who are starting to break out and see their stock rise.
Here are a few defensive linemen from the Atlanta area who are seeing more college interest coming their way…
AJ Hoffler – Woodward Academy
One of the nicest, most prestigious schools in Atlanta, Woodward Academy is constantly pumping out talent on an annual basis. It’s a winning program that knows how to produce and develop big-time talent, and they’ve got one of the top defenders in the city on their defensive line in AJ Hoffler. The 6-foot-5 246-pounder already has D1 size and has a handful of early offers including ones from Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Colorado. As a sophomore, Hoffler was a terror off the edge who always found a way to get to the QB. He’s quick off the ball for his size and uses his quick hands really well to get off blocks. When he gets to the QB, he knows how to deliver a hit and force the ball out. Hoffler’s stock is rising more and more and should see more come his way when college coaches can see him in person. Look for him to be one of the top 2023 DL prospects in Atlanta this fall.

Atlanta is home to one of the nation’s top 2024 prospects, and it’s elite defensive lineman, Hevin Brown-Shuler Hevin Brown-Shuler 6'5" | 270 lbs | DL Pace Academy | 2024 State GA . His stock is rising as fast as anyones, and even though he’s young, there’s a chance he could have every major offer out there after a big sophomore season. He dominated in the camp circuit this year and had an excellent showing in March at the Atlanta Under Armour camp. He’s one of the most talked-about defensive linemen in the region right now and should push for 5-star status down the road. The 6-foot-5 260-pounder with impressive athleticism for his size and will look to lead a strong Hapeville defense as a sophomore. He’s thick, strong, and moves incredibly well for his size. He’s quick off the ball, giving him an advantage over just about every opposing lineman he’s up against. The South Atlanta native quick enough to shoot the gaps and blow up a play in the backfield, and he’s strong enough to get off blocks and drive his man backwards as well. Jacobi Murray – Holy Innocents
There’s a new prospect to know in Georgia for the 2024 class, and it’s the big edge defender from Atlanta. As a freshman last year, Murray made a giant impact all season which led to All-Region honors. In just 5 games last year, Murray made 13 TFLs and 3 sacks. He was strong enough to make plays against older opponents and has his best football ahead of him. He plays with a lot of raw power and athleticism, so his game will only improve as he develops as a true every-down edge defender who can stop both the run and the pass. He earned his first offer this week from the in-state Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and he’ll see more come his way down the road.
Blessed to receive my first offer from The Georgia Institute of Technology! #4the404 @sirknight95 @CoachCollins @CoachPerrotta @HIESFootball @Mansell247 pic.twitter.com/PH87hn8F4v
