Stone Blanton Stone Blanton 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Madison-Ridgeland Academy | 2022 State MS keeps a stronghold on the #1 ranked spot for now. The Madison – Ridgeland Academy standout simply checks boxes of what LB coaches and Defensive Coordinators in the Power 5 are looking for. Blanton is athletic enough to cover the pass and strong and physical enough to help control the run game. A bright future is on the horizon for Mr. Blanton.
The #2 spot will see a fresh face in Trevion Williams Trevion Williams 6'5" | 250 lbs | LB Crystal Springs | 2022 State MS from Crystal Springs. Williams has been a name well known in recruiting circles for a while now, but we are now ready to list him as a LB instead of ATH. Williams has had a huge month with offers piling in recently from Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. At 6″5, 250 lbs, Williams looks like he is physically ready and strong enough to step onto an SEC field already.
Remaining in the Top 5 of our LB rankings are Zy Ford Zy Ford 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB East Webster | 2022 State MS and JD Stewart JD Stewart 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Greenville Christian School | 2022 State MS . Ford has an offer on the table from what seems like every Group of 5 school in the southeast, and with a big fall don’t be surprised to see some of the big boys come knocking. Ford continues to operate with one of the highest motors in the state. Stewart holds an offer from Mississippi State in addition to some Group of 5 schools and continues to showcase as much sheer athleticism as any LB prospect we have seen.
Making his debut in the LB Top 5 rankings is Khalid Moore Khalid Moore 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Poplarville | 2022 State MS , the OLB prospect from Poplarville. Moore seems like a perfect fit in Mississippi State’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme and committed to the Bulldogs back in March. Moore flies to the football and attacks with strength. At just a bit over 200 lbs, look for Moore to begin adding strength and weight this fall.
A couple of other rising linebackers made huge moves in this rankings update including Peyton Anderson Peyton Anderson 6'3" | 190 lbs | LB Columbia | 2022 State MS moving into the Top 10. Anderson has elite length and moves smoothly and with intent to the football. Jucos have taken notice and are beginning to extend offers. This should just be the beginning for Anderson, who will be playing on one of the most loaded defenses in the state this upcoming year.
Keep a close eye as the next season approaches on Kelbee Holmes Kelbee Holmes 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Neshoba Central | 2022 State MS from Neshoba Central. The inside linebacker is knocking on the door of the Top 10 at #11 and is starting to receive lots of recruiting attention. Holmes has numerous Juco offers already and is drawing plenty of D1 interest as well.
Don’t sleep on Raymond Collins Raymond Collins 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Harrison Central | 2022 State MS of Harrison Central. Expect the inside linebacker to be the next defensive guy in the state to blow up recruiting wise, as he certainly has the build to do so. We have Collins tabbed at #6 on the Linebacker board in this update.
