With the camp circuit beginning to get rolling, we are ready for an exciting summer! We appreciate everybody who has sent in their film over the last week. Let’s dive in and evaluate some of the guys who stood out! Emmanuel Tenner | 2022 TE | Clarksdale A 6’4" 240 tight end, Emmanuel Tenner has the making of an old school blocking tight end. He plays well attached to the line and could honestly play one of the offensive line positions with added weight and muscle mass. In some games, Tenner played tackle for Clarksdale! This is an extremely versatile big man who can fire off the ball well and hold his own. Tenner looks good in pass protection due to his quick and active feet and can also be a mauler in the run game. Look for him to continue growing into his offensive line mold and produce at a high level this season. Really like the edge he plays with. [player_tooltip player_id="106316" first="Joshua" last="Battles"] | 2023 DL | Pascagoula A 6’2" 330 defensive lineman, [player_tooltip player_id="106316" first="Joshua" last="Battles"] anchors the line for Pascagoula. Due to his size, Battles plays the interior spot and shows the athleticism to do a lot of damage from there. Battles has good initial get off off of the ball and looks twitchy in space. He fights with his hands well and has the strength to crush opposing linemen. As big as he is, it’s almost surprising how well Battles moves. He can bend well off the edge and quickly change direction when a run is going away from him. Really like his potential when he continues to grow and develop. Big guys like him with athleticism are hard to find. CJ Edwards | 2023 LB | Charleston Although his sophomore season was cancelled due to COVID-19, CJ Edwards was a player who produced as a freshman. Although he was super raw then, Edwards showed traits that could get him to the next level at one point. At inside backer, he was a guy that could run sideline to sideline well and make plays in pass coverage. Edwards was frequently using his speed to get into opposing teams’ backfields and make a tackle for loss. Bummed that he didn’t get to play this season. Edwards probably would’ve shown great improvement to his game. Hopefully, he can take the summer camp circuit by storm and have a great unaffected junior season. Antonio Fowler | 2022 ATH | Noxubee County On a team with a ton of impressive athletes, Antonio Fowler stands out as the do it all guy. Fowler lines up at receiver, defensive back, and as a return man impacting all 3 phases of the game. With his speed and make you miss ability, Fowler is a playmaker with the ball in his hands. On offense, he runs good routes and has the athleticism to create separation easily. Fowler also controls his body very well and can make some really good grabs by adjusting to where the football ends up. As a defensive player, Fowler plays well in both press and off man coverage. Like this guy a lot and surprised nobody has offered him yet. Good player due for a big senior year. [player_tooltip player_id="143046" first="Jakell" last="Allen"] | 2022 WR | Ruleville Central COVID-19 took away his junior season, but [player_tooltip player_id="143046" first="Jakell" last="Allen"] looks to make a name for himself as a senior. As a sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id="143046" first="Jakell" last="Allen"] looked like the next big thing. At 6’1" 170, Allen has the length and size that college coaches look for. He isn’t done growing yet and already shows signs of being able to add more weight. Allen is a very natural route runner with good feel on how to get open. He has smooth hands and can catch anything that is thrown his way. After the catch, Allen can use his speed for big gains in the open field. Love this guy’s game. If he camps well this summer and has a big season, I see no reason why he will not sign with a college by the time he graduates.
