As the pandemic played havoc with so many programs in the state of Florida in 2020 – one school managed to make the season one to remember.
In a year where things were far from normal, a first-year head coach and his talented team did everything right during a perfect 13-0 season and an 8A state crown.
For head coach Eric Lodge and his Sanford Seminole football team, this past year was certainly one when where things fell into place – from the opener against Gainesville – until the final whistle sounded in a convincing 38-10 win over Kissimmee Osceola in Tallahassee for the title.
This was team that had more than its share of talented football players who carved their way to wins against Daytona Beach Mainland, state 6A runner up Lake Minneola, Lake Brantley, Flagler Palm Coast, Port Orange Spruce Creek and Orange City University in the regular season – and DeLand, Jacksonville Sandalwood, Bartram Trail and Apopka in the playoffs.
With a gifted senior class moving on – the 2021 season will be about rising seniors (2022).
