The Lions of CPA are defending state champs and have the roster to repeat this year but they must get past last year's runner up Lipscomb. The Mustangs and the Lions both have two of the top overall quarterbacks in the state with La and Richesson. Father Ryan had a breakout season last year and has the talent to put together back to back strong seasons with the 2021 campaign hopefully landing in Cookeville. The Fighting Irish must replace two D1 college talents but they sport a good offensive line and possibly the best secondary in the entire state (Ford, Reed, Nelson, Sharp) The Big Red of MBA have an elite level quarterback running the show in Reed along with one of the best tackle prospects in Morgan protecting his blindside. MBA must replace some key seniors but bring back enough talent to find their way in Cookeville by season's end. - This could be a bounce back year for the Ensworth Tigers, especially if they can receive strong quarterback play and consistency on offense. The Tigers have some serious athleticism for both sides of the ball with Ingram, McGhee and Page along with a stalwart up front in Gray to help lead the Tigers back to the playoffs and in state contention. - The king of the public schools in Davidson County is Pearl Cohn and they will remain that way until someone knocks them off their perch. The Firebirds must replace key seniors Owens, Dayton and Griffin-Parker but return significant skill at receiver and defensive back in Brown, Coffee, Trotter and a few others. Finding a replacement at quarterback is key for the Firebirds this season and if they can find that guy, this Metro power has the skill to catch it and make plays. - One public school sleeper team to keep an eye on this season is McGavock. The Raiders haven't been successful on the gridiron in some time but they may finally have talent and some pieces to make their way into the playoffs for the 2021 season. Led by a talented senior in Burns, the Raiders have the skill outside but the trenches and quarterback play will go a long way in the hopes of a playoff run.
