Several players that are newcomers to the rankings, also are currently some of the top players in the state. Here are six of those talented newcomers that are now in the top fifty of the class.
Josh Padilla 6’4” 265 OL Dayton Wayne
Padilla is an athletic offensive lineman who can play guard or tackle. He delivers a powerful first strike, keeps his legs driving on contact, and finishes the play, often putting the opponent to the ground. After evaluating this talented newcomer, he ended up landing at the number sixth overall spot and the number one offensive lineman.
Ryne Shackelford Ryne Shackelford 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Keystone | 2023 State OH 6’0” 180 WR La Grange Keystone
Ryne lands in the top twenty of the current rankings at number sixteen and the third best wide receiver in the 2023 class. Even though he comes from a smaller division football program, Shackleford is a versatile athlete that can play multiple positions including receiver and defensive back. He possesses exceptional ball skills and explosive speed when running the jet sweep.
AJ Salley AJ Salley 6'5" | 240 lbs | OL Miamisburg | 2023 State OH 6’5” 240 OL Miamisburg
Salley, the third best offensive lineman in the 2023 class, broke into the top twenty of the state, currently holding the number eighteen spot. He has great length and excellent footwork demonstrating the ability to sustain blocks till the whistle blows. Salley shows good mobility for a big man by extending to the perimeter to pick up defenders on the tunnel and quick screen.
Breeon Ishmail 6’5” 205 WR Hamilton
Ishamail might be a newcomer but his talent as a wide receiver places him as the second best in the state at his position and the eleventh overall best player in the 2023 class. He possesses sure hands and can catch errant passes or the football in a crowd. He displays courage running routes and securing passes across the middle. Ishmail is a complete receiver by showing toughness and competitiveness as a downfield blocker.
Tanner LeMaster Tanner LeMaster 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Washington Courthouse | 2023 State OH 6’6” 235 TE Washington Courthouse
Tanner rose from obscurity to be the number one tight end in Ohio due to his versatility as a skill player. Towering above the opposition, LeMaster has the feet to play wide receiver, but his overall size and physicality makes him a prime-time tight end. He uses his huge wingspan to his advantage by high pointing the football over top of linebackers and defensive backs. LeMaster is also dangerous to opposing defenses on the tight end screen.
Mason Ludwig Mason Ludwig 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL East Liverpool | 2023 State OH 6’5” 275 OT East Liverpool
Another tall and thick offensive lineman, Ludwig shows his agility and foot quickness by being able to pull and lead upfield. He takes over the twentieth overall position in the latest rankings. Ludwig is a tenacious blocker with vice script like hands who dominates the opponent on single blocks despite playing a little high at times.
