The Prep Redzone Maryland Class of 2022 prospect rankings have undergone its first update of the year. We reset the table and identify who some of the top prospects in Maryland. Hundreds of football players in the state of Maryland did not get to play because of COVID-19. Because of that fact, we limited the number of ranked players for now. There were players who could play a few games during the 2020-21 school year. We will do our best to get as many football players as possible ranked with Prep Redzone Maryland. It’s very possible that you will see more changes in September when we do our next update.

With all of that being said, here are some players whose stock has risen since the last rankings update.

SLIGHT CHANGES TO THE TOP 10

The Top 10 saw a few changes since the last update. The top six saw little change except for No. 3 [player_tooltip player_id="90499" first="Derrick" last="Moore"] (DL, previously No. 2) and [player_tooltip player_id="90498" first="Dani" last="Dennis-Sutton"] (previously No. 3) swapping places. We’ll revisit that decision in the next couple of months. No. 8 [player_tooltip player_id="90502" first="Preston" last="Howard"] is being recruited as an athlete, but we have him in the system as a quarterback. We respect his status as an athlete and that fact that he’s one of the best players in the state. Therefore, we have him higher in our overall rankings than we have him in our quarterback rankings. Wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="90509" first="Peter" last="Kikwata"] climbs from No. 13 to No. 6 in our rankings. Kikwata’s speed on the outside makes him one arguably the most explosive player in the state.

OTHER NOTABLE HIGH RISERS

Defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="90536" first="Oliver" last="Bridges"] has gone from being on the waiting list to No. 7 in our rankings. His size alone (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) makes him an attractive prospect at cornerback. Bridges can also play the safety position. That may pay dividends for him down the road if he ends up playing safety in college. He has the body frame to put on the needed weight to survive playing safety at the Power 5 level.
Fellow defensive backs Cam Johnson (No. 12) and [player_tooltip player_id="90514" first="Jamal" last="Hood"] (No. 11) have both risen into the Top 15. [player_tooltip player_id="90625" first="Mansoor" last="Delane"] is defensive back who has gone from the waiting list to the No. 23 slot in our rankings. He’s a hard-hitting cornerback prospect that has come on strong as a recruit over the last several months. He recently named his Top 8 schools on May 5. Maryland is one school that made the cut for Bridges. Offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="90571" first="Jacob" last="Sacra"] is another player who may was overlooked the first time around. Sacra cracks the Top 20 this time around.
