They finished the season with an overall 5-5 record, with all 5 of their losses being in their region. Due to this, the Longhorns missed the playoffs, and fell short of any expectations they may have had for themselves, or that fans could have expected as well. Next season, with a full off-season for preparation, the Lambert High will certainly be looking to make strides of progression. In doing so, expect their top returners, in which we listed below, to make a big difference.
Kojo Antwi Kojo Antwi 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Lambert | 2022 State GA – WR
Antwi is undoubtedly one of the best receivers in the entire state, and it should come as no surprise once you cut on his film. Not only does he have the speed to take the ball to the house form anywhere on the field, but he also has the ball skills, burst, and acceleration after the catch that college coaches are looking for. He plays very well against man coverage, as well as zone coverage, and he plays with good footwork, which helps him to be able to gain great separation from defenders. Antwi is very impressive with his body control as well, and the way he can make catches from various angles on a consistent basis. Next season, look for him to continue to develop into his ability, and to commit to a top tier program.
Brandon Jones- WR
During the 2020 season, Jones was a young WR prospect, and this can be seen in the way that he was only about 5’10, 160 pounds. Regardless of this, he allowed his game to speak for itself. To start, Jones may not be the most polished route runner, but he plays with good speed, and he allows this to help him stack defenders well. When downfield, he reads the ball well with his eyes, and is good at making clean catches with his hands from various angles. He also moves very fluidly in and out of his cuts, but overall, we would like to see more polished use of his footwork. This can help him to eliminate any wasted movement he may have, and can even help to better pair his short area quickness and burst, with his ability after the catch.
Ashton Smith- QB
Here at Prep Redzone, we truly believe that Smith has not gotten as much respect as he should. In 2020, Smith showed plenty of attributes as a QB that can be great if further developed in a small program. Not only does he have an okay release, but he has decent ball placement as well, especially on some of his deep balls. While we do understand that he needs to work on his intermediate passes, and short passing game, we also recognize that he plays with good vision of the field. When releasing the ball, Smith also has a decent touch on the ball, and proves to be able to throw with velocity as well. His feet may be a bit choppy at times, but he shows that he can also maneuver decently well outside of the pocket as well. As we approach the 2021 season, look for him to work on his reads, and how fast he processes the game, along with the mechanics that he plays with. If he can find ways to improve in this, you can expect him to make leaps in his development.
Grayson Mains Grayson Mains 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Lambert | 2022 State GA – T / DE
Mains is already a University of South Carolina commit, and going into the 2021 season, we fully expect him to continue to solidify all of the reasons why. Not only is he a massive prospect, but he plays at a good base, and with decent footwork off of the ball. He has a strong stance, and his upper body remains strong when blocking defenders. Not only does he absorb impact well when needed, but he also delivers blows well with his hands, and as he rolls his hips into his blocks. This helps him to finish plays and to be able to move defenders well off of the snap of the ball. In the 2021 season, look for him to continue to be a constant on the team’s offensive line, and to continue to develop for his future in college football.
