Freeport Ready To Compete

You will have to excuse Freeport High football fans if they are getting a little bit excited about their Bulldogs. While head coach <strong>Shaun Arntz</strong> and his football program are coming off a solid spring – and a much-anticipated summer ahead – there is a lot of talk about this upcoming season. Even though the year ended at 5-4 and a loss to unbeaten state champion Baker in the regular season, there was something about that setback that drove this team. Wins over Jay and Liberty County, and Bonifay Holmes County in the playoffs opened the door for a second chance at the Gators. While Baker still won that contest (34-22), it gave the Bulldogs something to head into the off-season with, and it was just what this program needed. As they head toward the summer, this program will look for leadership and experience from seniors (2022) <strong>K.K. Henderson </strong>(WR, 5-10, 160 – 2.7 GPA) and <strong>Cole McCormick</strong> (WR, 6-0, 175 – 2.9 GPA), which is perfect for a rising junior class that is stacked with playmakers and size. <strong>BULLDOGS WILL RELY ON THE 2023 PROSPECTS</strong> There is no hiding the excitement that Coach Arntz and his football team have in this group of junior talent. One of the catalysts of this class – and the team is quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128338" first="Ashton" last="Nunes"]</strong> (6-2, 175 – 3.6 GPA, 1200 SAT). This is someone who gets it done on and off the field and is a leader that the Bulldogs will need if they are to realize a dream and make a solid run at a 1A title. This team will also count on <strong>Robbie Durgin</strong> (WR/DB, 5-10, 150 – 3.0 GPA), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128641" first="Uriah" last="Frith"]</strong> (DL, 6-3, 235 – 2.5 GPA), <strong>Nick Gikas</strong> (WR, 6-2, 145 – 3.5 GPA), <strong>Dylan Harrison </strong>(PK, 5-10, 150 – 2.9 GPA), <strong>Terin Hester</strong> (OT, 6-4, 255 – 2.9 GPA) and athlete <strong>Peyton Kruger</strong> (6-1, 186 – 2.7 GPA).
