EXOS Select 50: QB and WR Standouts

Aside from QB MVP Jett Huff and WR MVP Hunter Summers, several other athletes made a name for themselves at the QB and WR positions in the EXOS Select 50 Showcase.
QB Standouts
Tanner Beakley – Marion 2022 – 6’3 200lbs
Beakley has the prototypical size at the QB position. His footwork allows him to maneuver the pocket with ease, and he is mobile enough to extend plays or pick up yardage on the ground. He is accurate on short and intermediate routes and throws with great touch on his deep ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="22699" first="Will" last="Geiman"] – Eagle Valley (CO) 2022 – 6’0 195lbs
Geiman is well built with a solid base. He has an abundance of arm talent, throwing darts into tight windows, accurate on the move, and has enough zip to hit out breaking routes on the wide side of the field. If all else fails, Geiman can pick up yards with his legs.
Patrick Burke – Episcopal School of Dallas 2023 – 6’2 180lbs
Burke is long and lean, with long legs that help him cover a lot of ground quickly when he scrambles. He is an accurate passer and has good touch on the deep ball. Burke is definitely a guy to keep an eye on as he heads into his junior season.
WR Standouts
Luke Tapp – Jourdanton 2022 – 6’1 180
Tapp was the #4 overall athlete at the showcase, testing in the top 5 in every category except 2. He sets up routes well and is explosive out of breaks. Luke was able to put his excellent hands on display all camp long, including an impressive one-handed snag on a ball thrown low and behind him on a slant that he was able to snatch without breaking stride. Tapp will be a chain-moving, play-making slot at the next level.
Braylan Spencer – Melissa 2023 – 5’10 185lbs
This showcase was a coming-out party for Spencer, where his good footwork, change of direction and burst out of breaks made him almost uncoverable out of the slot. He is a smooth route runner and made several impressive grabs throughout the day.
Bryce Gilchrist – Heritage 2023 – 6’2 190
Gilchrist is long and lean, with plenty of room on his frame to pack on some weight and transition to a flex TE role. He excels at finding the soft spot in the defense to create an easy completion for the QB and tracking the ball downfield where he can use his length to go up and over DBs for the contested catch. His soft hands allowed him to pluck the ball out of the air with ease all day long.
Ryan Salas – Alice 2022 – 6’0 183lbs
Salas was the #2 overall athlete at the showcase, with an eye-popping 39.2” vertical jump, and top 4 numbers at all of the other testing categories except 2. He is a smooth route runner with soft hands. His basketball skills are evident with his ability to box out defenders, play above the rim, and go up and get the ball in contested catch situations.
Dominic Castellanos – Marion 2023 – 5’8 145lbs
Castellanos makes up for his small size with his ultra competitiveness. He has great start/stop ability, and can get to his top speed in a hurry.
[player_tooltip player_id="26256" first="Adam" last="Aguilera"] – Lovington (NM) 2022 – 5’8 140lbs
Aguilera is another undersized WR that has a special set of skills that make him dangerous with the ball in his hands. He is quick, shifty, and slippery with the ball in his hands. Adam’s kick return ability is evident when he weaves through traffic after catching a pass.
Honorable Mention
QB Codie Vega – Anna 2023 – 6’0 185lbs
QB Tanner Bean – Wortham 2023 – 5’10 165lbs
WR Joshua Robinson – Lone Star 2023 – 6’3 220lbs
WR [player_tooltip player_id="134985" first="Tayten" last="Hilliard"] – Lovington (NM) 2022 – 5’11 155lbs
