On May 8th, EXOS held a Select 50 Showcase in Frisco, Texas, welcoming high-level athletes from all over Texas, and a few players that traveled in from California, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. Every position group was loaded with talent, but a few players put on a show and were named MVP of their positions.
QB MVP – Jett Huff – College Station 2022 – 5’10 180lbs
Jett packs a ton of arm talent in his 5’10 frame, using his strong arm and pinpoint accuracy to throw receivers open and put the ball in tight windows where only the receiver had a chance at the catch. He throws a nice deep ball with great touch and accuracy. Huff can also use his feet to maneuver the pocket and extend the play while keeping his eyes downfield.
WR MVP – Hunter Summers – Prosper 2023 – 6’1 158lbs
Summers has a long, lean frame with plenty of room to fill out. He is a smooth route runner that attacks the ball in the air. He excels at living above the rim, high pointing the football, and making the contested catches look easy by using his long arms and excellent body control to go up and over defenders to pluck the ball out of the air.
OL MVP – Ryan Ainsworth – Episcopal School of Dallas 2022 – 6’3 250lbs
Ainsworth plays with a good base and solid arm length that allows him to anchor well in pass sets. His strong hands help him to latch onto defenders and control the block. Ryan’s best qualities are his low pad level and desire to finish the block by putting his man through the turf.
DL and Overall MVP – Matt Freeman Matt Freeman 6'3" | 215 lbs | LB Trinity Christian | 2022 State TX – Trinity Christian 2022 – 6’3 215lbs
Freeman is a freak of an athlete, running a 4.57 laser-timed 40 at 215lbs, and finishing top 5 at every combine test. He is long and lean and has DE/OLB flexibility. His speed and bend off the edge combined with his closing speed is dangerous for opposing quarterbacks, and made him unstoppable all camp long. Matt can use his length to keep blockers off of his body, and also has multiple pass rush tools to help him win reps in a variety of ways. Freeman shifted out to LB towards the end of camp, and has solid cover skills, despite playing a new position.
DB MVP – Braden Waters – Kennedale 2022 – 6’1 190lbs
Waters is a safety at his high school but spent most of the camp as a cornerback. His length and physicality at the line of scrimmage helped him disrupt routes and challenge receivers at the catch point. Despite being taller at the cornerback position, Waters displayed fluid hips and the ability to turn and run with even the most skilled route runners.
Out of State Players
RB MVP – Wentric Williams III Wentric Williams III 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Liberty KC | 2022 State MO – Liberty (MO) 2022 – 5’11 190lbs
Williams is the total package at the running back position and had a tough battle to be named RB MVP in a stacked running back group. He has great vision, is a decisive 1 cut-and-go runner, and runs solid routes. Wentric tracks the ball well downfield and has soft hands that allowed him to catch just about everything thrown his way.
LB MVP – Evan Riederich – Huntington Beach (CA) 2022 – 5’9.5 175lbs
Riederich is proof that dynamite comes in small packages. His high motor, great football IQ, and ability to play with leverage kept him in a position to make plays all day long. He was sticky in man coverage, and read the QBs eyes well while understanding the route concepts headed his way.
