RB, Derek Hubbard Derek Hubbard 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Derby | 2024 State KS , 5’7, 145, Derby
Derek Hubbard Derek Hubbard 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Derby | 2024 State KS is the #1 ranked RB and the 9th ranked player overall in the class of 2024. He had an impressive Freshman season last year playing behind all-state RB Dylan Edwards Dylan Edwards 5'9" | 165 lbs | RB Derby | 2023 State KS as he rushed for 183 yards on 35 carries and scored 3 TD while catching one pass for 9 yards. He shows good vision as he finds the open hole and is able to string together multiple moves while using his good play speed and athletic ability to outrun LB and most DB en route to a large gain. He displays good play strength and physical toughness as he is able to stiff arm larger DB at the goal line as he scores a touchdown. Hubbard and Edwards will give the Derby Panthers an excellent one-two punch in the backfield as they try to win their 4th state championship in a row and their 6th in the last 7 years.
DL, Brody McManamon Brody McManamon 6'1" | 245 lbs | DL Blue Valley West | 2024 State KS , 6’0, 215, Blue Valley West
Brody McManamon Brody McManamon 6'1" | 245 lbs | DL Blue Valley West | 2024 State KS is the 1st ranked DL and the 10th ranked player overall in the class of 2024. The Jaguars of Blue Valley West finished at 1-5 last year but defeated the 6A runner up Blue Valley North in a very exciting game. As the top ranked defensive lineman in his class, Brody will be a key contributor on defense as they look to improve in 2021.
ATH, JC Heim JC Heim 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , 6’2, 185, Washburn Rural
JC Heim JC Heim 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS is the 3rd ranked ATH and the 12th ranked player in the class of 2024 overall. He plays as a RB on offense and a LB on defense. As a rusher, he shows very good quickness and agility to turn the corner on outside runs, showing very good contact balance as he maintains his balance after being hit by LB and uses his very good play speed and acceleration once he enters the secondary as he outruns all defenders for a long touchdown run. As a LB, he displays excellent range as he is able to play sideline to sideline, very good instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit of the ball carrier, shows good form tackling as he plays with good leverage and displays very good play strength in his upper body, lower body and core to bring down very quick RB with force easily.
QB, Branton DeWeese Branton DeWeese 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , 6’0, 170, Washburn Rural
Branton DeWeese Branton DeWeese 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS is the #5 ranked QB and the 15th ranked player overall in the class of 2024. He saw significant playing time as a Freshman and gained valuable experience as a result. He makes very good decisions as he is able to locate the open WR and displays good accuracy on short, intermediate and deep passes while placing the ball with excellent touch on the correct shoulder of the WR maximizing yards after the catch. He is primarily a pocket passer but he shows solid mobility as he possesses the play speed to elude LB coming off the edge and uses his good play speed and athletic ability to scramble for a first down.
WR, La’Terrius Robinson Jr, 5’8, 140, Wichita East
La’Terrius Robinson Jr is the 4th ranked WR and the 27th ranked player overall in the class of 2024. In 2020, The Aces of Wichita East had one of the most explosive offenses in the entire state. They averaged 40.67 points per game. As a Sophomore in 2021, he will join that incredible offense as they look to improve upon their 7-2 record in 2020. He projects as a slot WR where he will use his good quickness and agility to break off his stem and gain separation from the DB.
