The Breakout Performance Series is meant to highlight some of the breakout performers, and potential breakout performers, from the Spring season and the seasons to come. Hopefully this analysis helps these players gain traction in the recruitment process as well as assisting scouts in their efforts.
2022 5’11 180 DB [player_tooltip player_id="90595" first="Kevin" last="Winston"] – DeMatha
[player_tooltip player_id="90595" first="Kevin" last="Winston"] is a speedster on both sides of the ball. On offense he’s capable of lining up in the backfield, mostly on trick plays, and gaining huge chunk plays from scrimmage. On defense he’s a shut-down defensive back with ridiculous closing speed. There are very few wide receivers who can run routes competitively against [player_tooltip player_id="90595" first="Kevin" last="Winston"] and he certainly proved that this past Spring. Watch out for [player_tooltip player_id="90595" first="Kevin" last="Winston"] and the Stags to make a huge push for the WCAC title in the Fall.
2022 5’10 185 WR [player_tooltip player_id="136033" first="Jordan" last="Scarbrough"] – St. Mary’s Ryken
As one of the best slot receivers in the WCAC, [player_tooltip player_id="136033" first="Jordan" last="Scarbrough"] is a premier route runner in the state. With an offer from Navy already, Scarbrough will be receiving more D1 letters this Fall as he continues to showcase his incredible improvement. This past Spring, he unveiled his ability to line up in the backfield and gain huge yards from scrimmage, even making one huge play as a wildcat quarterback in the read option. It’s safe to say that [player_tooltip player_id="136033" first="Jordan" last="Scarbrough"] will continue to breakout this Fall and even further into an elite division one program.

2022 6’1 225 RB [player_tooltip player_id="90597" first="Darrien" last="Lewis"] – DeMatha
[player_tooltip player_id="90597" first="Darrien" last="Lewis"] had an incredibly solid Spring season and he will continue to breakout this Fall. Darrien is a big time power-back who gains most of his yards after contact. His speed is truly off the charts for his size and there is no question that he is ready for the college level. The WCAC should be on sharp notice that [player_tooltip player_id="90597" first="Darrien" last="Lewis"] and the Stag offense are coming to dominate this upcoming season.

2023 6’3 230 QB [player_tooltip player_id="90668" first="Ty’Sean" last="Helm"] – Archbishop Carroll
As captain of the Archbishop Carroll Lions, rising Junior [player_tooltip player_id="90668" first="Ty’Sean" last="Helm"] has already made an incredible impact on the program. His dual threat capabilities are truly special, and once you combine that with his size and speed he becomes unstoppable. Ty”Sean also has spectacular arm strength, and his downfield accuracy is already elite. This upcoming Fall season will be [player_tooltip player_id="90668" first="Ty’Sean" last="Helm"]’s true breakout season, and the entire DMV area should be on notice.
2023 5’8 165 WR [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] – Archbishop Carroll
[player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] was absolutely incendiary on the field this past Spring. Where he lacks in size he makes up for with ridiculous speed and brilliant route running. His specialty is the deep ball, and when you combine that with the downfield throwing accuracy of his quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id="90668" first="Ty’Sean" last="Helm"], then it becomes clear just how dangerous the Archbishop Carroll offense will be this upcoming season. Scouts and D1 programs everywhere should keep a close eye on the growth and development of [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] because he is an elite high school receiver who has big time college potential.
