Earlier we previewed potential standouts for Team Maryland on the offensive side of the ball. This will be a preview of the players that we should look out for on the defensive side of the ball. The Big 33 Classic will be played on May 31.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Dumas-Johnson will be the star of Team Maryland’s defense. He is a great sideline to sideline defender. He has amazing range for a backer. He will be able to come downfield and make stops at or behind the line of scrimmage. He will be the best run defender on Team Maryland and expect him to make a ton of plays in the run game.
Marcel Mami
Mami has been the middle linebacker for Damascus for years so expect him to play the same role for Team Maryland. He like Dumas-Johnson is a great run defender with the ability to run sideline to sideline. Expect Mami and Dumas-Johnson to be a great run-stopping duo.

Tate is a dominant nose tackle. He uses his size and strength to overpower blockers and shed blocks. Tate is also great with his hands and is able to win hand fights. Expect him to clog up the middle and be a big run-stopper in the middle of Team Maryland’s defense.
[player_tooltip player_id="90325" first="DaShawn" last="Jones"]
Jones is the best cover corner on this Team Maryland roster. He is versatile as he has the ability to make plays in off coverage, but he also has the ability to press and bump and run. Jones also has amazing ball skills and comes down with plenty of interceptions in contested ball situations. Expect Jones to be a big part of Team Maryland’s pass defense.
