You do not have to go back too many years to see talent like Dre Greenlaw wind up playing in the NFL. The 2023 class has several players that have the potential to see plenty of action on Saturdays in the future. We are going to look at some of the gems of this linebacker class.
Quincey Rhodes Jr.-Jacksonville
Rhodes Jr. entered the 2023 Prep RedZone Arkansas rankings in this set that we updated this weekend. The versatility that Rhodes Jr. has is going to make scouts want to take a long look at him. He has the speed and the size that is perfect for the linebacker position. Rhodes Jr. does a good job of fending off blocks and getting into the backfield. One area of his game that impresses me is that his hands are extremely good. Rhodes Jr. can pick off a pass and take it the other direction. The potential is there for Rhodes Jr. to explode and become a household name this season.
Caden Mimms Caden Mimms 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Cabot | 2023 State AR -Cabot
Mimms terrorizes opposing offensive backfields with how disruptive he is to the running game. Mimms uses his speed to get into the backfield. He uses the mix of size and speed to get into the backfield. At 6-3 and 220-pounds, Mimms is versatile enough to play on the offensive side of the ball. Mimms has seen some time at the running back position and his speed and willingness to run people over serve him well at the position. He is going to be a player to watch at the linebacker position, the potential is high for the young man to earn some division one offers.
LaMarcus Bolden LaMarcus Bolden 5'10" | 210 lbs | LB Drew Central | 2023 State AR -Drew Central
Versatile is a key phrase when you are watching Bolden. Bolden plays the linebacker spot well and he does a good job of making the tackle. What sticks out is that he does not give up on a play. Bolden is never out of the play and gives the consistent effort all over the field. He does an impressive job of being able to diagnose what the play is going to be and putting himself in a good position to make the tackle. He is a player that has a high ceiling and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes during the 2021 season.
Blake Brown Blake Brown 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Nettleton | 2023 State AR -Nettleton
Brown is a linebacker that does a good job of working his way into the opposing offensive backfield. He has a nose for the football and always seems to be around the ball carrier and in on the tackle. Brown does not give up on the play and he has the speed to be disruptive in the offensive backfield. He is a solid coverage linebacker, and he is more than capable of picking off a pass and taking it back the other direction. Brown is a player to keep an eye on this season and one tremendous potential to have a big season.
James Whitley James Whitley 5'9" | 200 lbs | LB Maumelle | 2023 State AR -Maumelle
Whitley has excellent instincts and is able to dissect a play extremely quick. He does an impressive job of dropping back into coverage and knocking the ball away or picking off the pass. Whitley is a steady tackler and does a terrific job of wrapping the ball carrier up and making the tackle. The Maumelle Hornets have a talented roster this season and I am looking forward to seeing Whitley play this season. He has a high ceiling and is a player with plenty of potential. Whitley should have a great 2021 season.
