We released our postseason rankings update for the class of 2022 Monday, adding over 50 new players and updating the rankings of the 90 players we had ranked before the season. In this series, we’ll take a look at a few guys at each position that have moved up our rankings. Evaluating offensive linemen in a shortened season can be difficult, but we have 14 offensive linemen ranked. I’ll break down five of my favorites in this article.
[player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"], 6’5 295- Rolesville (No. 1 OL, No. 15 overall)
Henderson is one of the hottest commodities in the state, regardless of position. Henderson both gained weight and sped up his feet this season, putting out one of the more impressive offensive line tapes you’ll see. A standout run blocker who delivers a bunch of big hits, Henderson’s pass sets have improves drastically in the last few months, making him a more complete prospect and prompting us to move him into our top offensive lineman spot.
[player_tooltip player_id="97529" first="Lee" last="Hall"], 6’ 285- Heritage (No. 4 OL, No. 36 overall)
Hall came into the season with huge expectations, but he lived up to those with a great year. An interior offensive lineman, Hall has experience at both guard and center. He moves well and is strong, even for his size. He excels at downfield blocking and pulling and has the athleticism to make blocks in the open field. He improved his pass blocking this season and that will help with his recruiting stock.
[player_tooltip player_id="97531" first="Justin" last="Horta"], 6’3 300- Corinth Holders (No. 5 OL, No. 40 overall)
A talented blocker, Horta is a big, athletic lineman with the ability to play both guard and tackle. He had a tremendous season this year, starting every game without giving up a sack. As is the case with a lot of the guys on this list, Horta excels as a run blocker, due to his physicality and ability to down block. He’s another guy we’re excited to see on the camp scene this summer.
[player_tooltip player_id="141400" first="Jakson" last="Attanasio"], 6’3 290- Sanderson (No. 10 OL, No. 94 overall)
A powerful blocker, Attanasio played on both sides of Sanderson’s offensive line at guard. He’s a strong run blocker that keeps a solid, balanced base and does a great job of keeping his feet moving. I like him at guard at the next level but he brings some positional versatility that should make college coaches happy. He’s in a run-heavy offense, but has shown improvement in his limited pass blocking snaps.
[player_tooltip player_id="141403" first="Samuel" last="Whitt"], 6’ 275- East Surry (No. 11 OL, No. 98 overall)
Whitt had one of the most dominant seasons in the state as he bullied just about anyone who lined up against him. He’s a physical guard who excels at pulling and climbing to the next level in the running game. He’s athletic enough to block linebackers and safeties that try to come down in the running game. I’m interested to see how he fares in camps this summer as it can be tough to judge guys in the trench at the 1A level, but I think he’ll more than hold his own against players from bigger schools.
