There were a ton of submissions which made it hard to pick just 2 players for the spotlight this week, but here are two guys that are doing all the right things and deserve to draw some attention their way:

[player_tooltip player_id="87436" first="Skyler" last="Cassel"]<strong>,</strong> <em>QB, 6’0" 190lbs, West Valley HS ’23<img class="alignright wp-image-117357" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/03/prep-redzone-picture-300x169.jpg" alt="" width="328" height="185" /></em>

Cassel was a new name that emerged this season, and absolutely lit it up as a sophomore by throwing for 1,630 yards and 19 TD’s, while adding another 2 TD’s on the ground in just a shortened 5 game COVID season. He shows a nice pre-snap read and does a good job identifying coverages pre-snap to know where he’s going with the ball most of the time. He has a twitchy upper half with the ability to freeze or move DB’s with his eyes and shoulder movement. He is poised when he stays in the pocket and has shown pretty good anticipation for routes to develop, specifically intermediate routes. Cassel displays solid arm strength as he can let it fly down field or hit throws with velocity, but was very effective with the deep ball. He maintains a 4.0 GPA and was awarded "1st Team All-League QB". He is a definite up and coming big time QB, and should definitely be on your radar as a ’23 kid to get on your board.

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="132302" first="Bennett" last="Ferris"]</strong>, <em>LB, 6’0" 210lbs, Tumwater HS ’22<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-40970" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/08/PrzIcon3-294x300.png" alt="" width="294" height="300" /></em>

Ferris sizes up with a thick frame and was a solid LB for Tumwater as he filled his role nicely. He shows solid play recognition and flies to the ball well, as he consistently involved himself on every play between the tackles. He shows a good understanding of zone responsibilities in coverage, as he did a great job taking away the flats as an OLB. At OLB, he showed flashes on film where he would disguise coverage by showing blitz, then immediately shoot out to the flats to cover his zone and really disrupted the play numerous times. Ferris was awarded "All-League LB" with a short 5 game season as well. He has been drawing interest from numerous D2, NAIA, and a few Ivy League programs. He will enter next season with a big role for the Tumwater defense, and will look to have a productive year and rise his stock during his senior campaign.
