Indiana provides a 2022 Class full of playmakers at one of the game’s must crucial positions. Even though today is not National Tight End Day (that is on October 25th) let us take a look at the top three tight ends in the Prep Redzone Indiana rankings for the Class of 2022.
Jack Tippmann Jack Tippmann 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Bishop Dwenger | 2022 State IN 6’4, 225 pounds, Bishop Dwenger
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School has a history of sending elite prospects to the next level and even the NFL and Jack Tippmann Jack Tippmann 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Bishop Dwenger | 2022 State IN may be the next. Tippmann is a jack-of-all-trades type of offensive player. He has the ability to hurt opponents in both the running game as well as the passing game. But perhaps his most impressive skill is his blocking ability. Tippmann can completely wipe out the defender that he is assigned to and help turn a short gain into a big play. He also is a solid route-runner who shows an understanding of coverages and he puts himself into the right position to get open and help the quarterback. Max Sullivan Max Sullivan 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Whiteland | 2022 State IN 6’6, 245 pounds, Whiteland
Whiteland’s Max Sullivan Max Sullivan 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Whiteland | 2022 State IN is on the cusp of a breakout season this year for the Warriors. Sullivan demonstrates his versatility by the fact the he plays tight end as well as outside linebacker. While Sullivan’s receiving yards total may not be eye-popping, it is the ways that he does contribute to the team that makes Sullivan a blue-chip prospect. Sullivan hauled in five touchdown receptions in 2020. Sullivan also has all of the physical tools necessary to be successful. At 6’6 and 245 pounds, he has the ability to be a matchup nightmare at the next level. Most linebackers will not be fast enough to cover him and most defensive backs will not be big enough to cover him one-on-one. I see a lot of raw talent in Max Sullivan Max Sullivan 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Whiteland | 2022 State IN and I believe that 2021 will be a breakout season for him. So college programs need to keep tabs on Sullivan this season.
Connor Foley Connor Foley 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Jasper | 2022 State IN 6’4, 215 pounds, Jasper
The third and final tight end currently ranked in our state rankings for the Class of 2022 is Jasper High School’s Connor Foley Connor Foley 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Jasper | 2022 State IN . Foley also plays defensive end for Jasper. As a tight end he plays with great physicality. Foley serves as a solid lead blocker who always drives his opponent off the ball and he is a player that can finish every catch through contact. Foley also has a very impressive catch radius, allowing him to catch throws that either above his head or below his knees. Foley also has the ability to be effective when lined up out wide. Connor Foley Connor Foley 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Jasper | 2022 State IN is such a dynamic and athletic player that he can be the go-to-guy on any offense at the next level.
Tight ends have to be some of the most versatile, athletic and dominant players on the field. These three possess every quality that a high major college coach could want. The student-athletes show the ability to know the game and to dominate the game. The tight end position is in good hands in the state of Indiana. The Class of 2022 stands ready to take the position to the next level this fall.
