The tight end position is perhaps one of the more undervalued positions in football. They have a critical role in both the run game, and the pass game. With the upcoming NFL Draft, former Florida Gator Kyle Pitts leads the way at the position, with a rare set of skills and athleticism. These Michiganders aren’t on Pitts level yet, but are leading the way in the state heading into their final high school season. Their combinations of size, strength, and an innate pass catching ability really set these three apart from others, and are a big reason coaches at Fordson, Royal Oak and Bay City Western sleep good at night.
[player_tooltip player_id="30161" first="Mohammed" last="Hazime"], 6’5, 225 Fordson
Hazime has a great level of hunger on the field, while carrying a pretty nimble body. He’s got versatility, and plays a big part in the rising Fordson football program. One of the unique things about Hazime is that he also stars on the defensive side of the ball, consistently making plays in the backfield of opposing teams. His motor, no pun intended, is a big reason he’s a rising star on the football field in the motor city. Hazime creates a dangerous tandem on the offensive side of the ball with Antonio Gates Jr. Much like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their super bowl run, if opposing defenses attempt to take one of the pass catchers away, the other is bound to get open and make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id="30208" first="Jesse" last="Hoisington"], 6’5, 225, Royal Oak
Hoisington is truly a unique player in that his size makes him a complete mismatch and big time red zone threat. He’s got an athletic frame that can’t really be guarded, and resembles a Rob Gronkowksi type considering his strong abilities to make plays in the end zone, and over players heads. He does a good job of catching the ball at its highest point, and can be seen absolutely mauling defenders out of his way in the open field. He does a good job, as a tight end, of finding gaps in the middle of the field and giving his quarterback good clean windows to throw the ball through.

[player_tooltip player_id="30263" first="Gage" last="Gransden"], 6’3, 210, Bay City Western
Gransden has a good frame, with room to add weight, and catches the ball very well. He’s a natural runner, and doesn’t struggle to move his body at all, making him a valuable asset in the pass game. He’s unstoppable in the short pass game, helping his team consistently move the chains, and has great field vision allowing him to be a high quality player after the catch. His combination of size, strength, speed and quickness helps him be a dominant run blocker as well, and there’s no doubt he’ll continue his success into his senior season.
