With the offseason underway, many prospects are putting in work to take their game to the next level. The offseason provides time to work with positional coaches more often and attend events like 7-on-7s and camps. Many running backs starred last season and hope to continue improving their game. Let’s take a look at some running backs to monitor this offseason. This list includes dominant players, as well as players who have great potential. *This list is in alphabetical order.
[player_tooltip player_id="33903" first="Keith" last="Adams Jr."], Class of 2022, Cherokee Adams is our 6th ranked running back in his class. He has great size at 5’10” and 200 lbs, big enough to absorb hits. Adams is a strong runner that often requires multiple defenders to bring him down. Adams possesses breakaway speed. He rushed for 1,350 yards this past season. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="95160" first="Damari" last="Alston"], Class of 2022, Woodward Academy Alston is a workhorse back. He had 234 carries this past season, which ranked 10th in Georgia. We have him ranked as the 2nd best back in his class. Alston excels at continuing to move his feet through contact. Alston’s balance is amazing. His burst is legit and he can take it to the house when defenses aren’t careful. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="34018" first="Antwan" last="Coney"], Class of 2023, Metter Coney is a bigger back at 5’10” and 215 lbs who uses his size well. He is not afraid of contact and will truck defenders. He thrives running in between the tackles and outside. He has great speed for his size. Coney is a great overall back, as he can catch passes out the backfield too. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="33870" first="Jamie" last="Felix"], Class of 2022, Camden County Felix is an all-purpose back from south Georgia. He missed some time this past season dealing with a hamstring injury but flashed when he played. Felix is a fluid runner who exercises great patience. Felix can accelerate quickly and pull away from defenders. He is one of the best backs in the class of 2022. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="34044" first="Ricky" last="Fulton"], Class of 2023, Thomasville Fulton is a promising young back, expected to see more touches next season. As a sophomore, he showed amazing strength and balance. Fulton does a good job fighting for extra yards. He recently ran a 4.54, an over .3 improvement from last year; and I expect him to keep trending in the right direction. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="34011" first="Justice" last="Haynes"], Class of 2023, Blessed Trinity Catholic Haynes is an elite running back and our 4th ranked overall prospect for his class. He has the speed needed to bounce runs to the outside when necessary. Lawson is a patient runner who hits the hole with a burst when he finds it. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="33892" first="Quintavious" last="Lockett"], Class of 2022, Douglass Lockett is our 4th ranked running back in his class. Mbadinga is a good pass-catcher out of the backfield and has the traits to be a great receiving back in the near future. Mbadinga possesses great speed. Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="95164" first="Jordan" last="McDonald"], Class of 2022, Milton McDonald is a workhorse running back.
