[player_tooltip player_id="25122" first="James" last="Bohls"], San Clemente, 2021
Throughout his career at San Clemente, Bohls has always been an elite athlete who ran hard, but you couldn’t point to a game where he put the team on his back and was dominant. He had that game this week when San Clemente beat San Juan Hills 35-7. Bohls ran for 176 yards on just 16 carries with three touchdowns. He has been very good for the Tritons in this short spring season and has seven rushing touchdowns through three games. Bohls is signed with the University of Arizona.

Caden Campuzano, Claremont, 2023
Campuzano is a sophomore who is playing his first snaps of varsity football this spring and it is paying off. He has been dominant in two games for Claremont a set a school-record for rushing touchdowns in a single game last week against Don Lugo with six. He also ran for 230 yards on just 15 carries. He has good instincts running the ball and has good speed when he gets outside in open space.

Jawan Howard, Silverado, 2021
Campuzano wasn’t the only running back who ran for six touchdowns last week. Howard had three touchdowns in each half for Silverado in a 44-24 win over Granite Hills of Apple Valley. The senior ran for 241 yards on 28 carries and now has eight touchdowns on the ground through two games. Howard isn’t a guy with college offers but he runs hard, breaks tackles and is a very good high school running back.

Vance Johnson, California, 2022
Yes, there is a high school in Southern California that is named "California High School." And they have a fantastic running back in Johnson, who accounted for 83 percent of the team’s total offense in a 26-13 win against El Rancho. He rushed for a massive 383 yards on 26 carries with three touchdowns. He is getting his opportunity to carry the offense after Fresno State signee [player_tooltip player_id="25137" first="Johnathan" last="Arceneaux"] who departed Whittier for Lawndale and he is making the most of it. I expect him to get some recruiting attention this summer.

Tyler Kaschewski, Templeton, 2021
Kaschewski is a quarterback who colleges will see as an "athlete" and his biggest weapon is his legs. The senior signal-caller rushed for 372 yards on 21 carries with five touchdowns including a 91-yard touchdown run. The Templeton offense is built on zone read plays which he often pulls and breaks off big runs against unsuspecting defensive ends who haven’t figured out that he is the best rusher on the team.

[player_tooltip player_id="25345" first="Christian" last="Washington"], Helix, 2022
The Helix offense is missing a lot of its biggest weapons due to early enrollment in colleges and transfer sit outs. The offense is finally getting on track and it’s largely due to the running game led by Washington. He ran for 138 yards on 25 carries with a pair of touchdowns in the Highlanders’ 49-35 win over Grossmont. His fellow running back Aleandro Van Holten also had a nice game, running for 104 yards and a touchdown. Washington is one of the fastest running backs in Southern California and can make plays as a rusher, receiver and returner.
