Below are the players who had the best performances on defense this past week.
Thomas Bouda, Corona del Mar, 2021
Bouda is a natural offensive lineman but had a stellar season on defense for the Sea Kings. He had two sacks in a 42-7 win over Fountain Valley last week and was pulled early in the game to get everyone playing time. Bouda led the team with 7.5 sacks this season in a very difficult Sunset League. He is committed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

[player_tooltip player_id="25176" first="Shoes" last="Brinkley"], Mater Dei, 2021
Brinkley was definitely in the head of the St. John Bosco offense. He was laying big hits on receivers crossing the middle of the field and came up to stop the running game. He was one of the best players in the biggest game of the spring season and was being talked about constantly in the media circles during and after the game. Brinkley is uncommitted but has offers from multiple Group of 5 schools and will definitely be continuing his football career.

Zecherriah Gipson, Reseda, 2021
Gipson is a really good athlete with natural football instincts that make him a great City Section defensive player. He had two interceptions in a 32-8 win over San Fernando and added six tackles. He deflected three passes in a close win against Crenshaw two weeks ago and is a ballhawk. Reseda won the City Section Division 1 championship last season and Gipson is one of the more improved returners from that team.

Noa Serpa, San Clemente, 2021
San Clemente is always loaded with good defensive players and Serpa is one that came out of nowhere. He was a JV guy last season and stepped into his first varsity action this season and played well. He had a game-high 10 tackles, two for a loss with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in San Clemente’s 10-7 win over rival Mission Viejo to win the South Coast League championship. It’s impressive how much Serpa has grown as a pass rusher and was able to step up against top level varsity competition. He is signed with Concordia University of Wisconsin.

Carson Schwesinger, Oaks Christian, 2021
Schwesinger is one of the best defensive backs in Los Angeles and had a huge senior spring season. He had three interceptions in a blowout win over Calabasas and had six interceptions in this short five game season. He also had 36 tackles and was an excellent two-way player for a very good Oaks Christian team. Schwesinger will be a walk on at UCLA next season.
