Pair of Instate Prospects Commit to Mississippi Colleges

It was a busy weekend in recruiting this past weekend in Mississippi. Two instate prospects made the decision to stay at home and continue representing their home state. While it is still early in the process, multiple players from the class of 2022 have already made the same decision.
The first commitment came from Hernando quarterback
Zach Wilcke

who committed just a under a month ago to the Golden Eagles. The rising senior becomes the forth offensive commitment for Coach Hall and looks to be like a future leader of the class.
It’s easy to see why Wilcke was the No. 1 guy on the Southern Miss board. An instate prospect who is a perfect fit to head your offense only makes sense. Hall’s offense requires a quarterback that can maintain composure and deliver strikes downfield off play action. It just so happens that that is where Wilcke thrives.
Wilcke stands tall in the pocket and has a smooth release when he throws the ball. He plays with great confidence and swagger and isn’t afraid of taking chances downfield. He has a strong arm and will be able to make any of the throws that he is asked to. In addition to his passing ability, Wilcke is a good athlete. While he won’t be a huge threat to pull the ball for 70 yard gains, he has enough athleticism to make plays with his legs and escape pressure when the pocket collapses. The Southern Miss quarterback room continues to become deep with talent. Great get for the Golden Eagles.
Only a day later, another prospect made some big time headlines. Rising star defensive back
Wesley Miller

from Heritage Academy announced his commitment to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It seemed like his recruitment was just kicking off, but it’s hard not to want to go to a big time SEC program just under an hour away from home. Miller joins fellow Mississippi defensive back

to kick off the Bulldogs’ class.
Coach Zach Arnett is getting an extremely talented defensive back to add to the room. While he currently plays corner, Miller has the versatility to play multiple defensive back positions for Mississippi State. In the Bulldogs’ defense, there are 5 DBs on the field at once, so Miller will get a chance to play early as a freshman.
Mississippi State is getting yet another talented instate player. Miller has the athleticism and fluidity to be a star in the SEC. He has great ball skills and a smooth transition. A willing tackler, Miller could end up playing as a roaming free safety capable of coming up and filling versus the run. Due to his ability to play off man coverage, he could stay at the cornerback position. The Heritage Academy product will have a lot of schools in his ear until signing day, so the Bulldogs will have to fight to keep him in the class. Awesome get for Mississippi State.
Much of Mississippi is already making the decision to stay and play for a home team, the question is who will be next?
