For many years, when you had Forest Hill on your schedule, it often times meant that you were leaving with a win. That’s not the case anymore.
Since being named head coach and putting his stamp on this West Palm Beach program, head coach Jim Basford will continue to change the culture and perception of this football team – after being part of the program for nine years.
Coming off a 3-1 record during this past Covid season, the Falcons are optimistic about the future – as some key prospects return to the team as spring is right around the corner.
The lone loss in 2020 was to Palm Beach Gardens (27-13). But that lone setback did not take the place of those key wins, which will certainly help this program grow.
Victories against John I. Leonard (42-20), Palm Beach Lakes (27-26) and Lake Worth (31-14) sent this team into the off-season with a great feeling.
CLASS OF 2022 WILL SPARK THE FALCONS
This rising senior class has some prospects who all have a chance keep this team over .500 in 2021.
Among those prospects are Dmitry Peters (LS/MLB, 5-11, 195 – 3.4 GPA – 900 SAT), Jaden Ramsey (DB, 6-1, 170) and versatile linebacker/defensive lineman Zadarius Ramsey (6-2, 205).
Coach Basford and the Falcons realize that winning football needs to have the contribution from all the classes – and those players in the 2023 class will be athletes to depend on.
Linebacker Jerrius Chavers (5-11, 185) is gifted and a talented playmaker. But he is certainly not alone. There are Sonny La Mattina (TE/DE, 6-2, 180 – 3.0 GPA), Chris Sweeney (OL/DL, 6-4, 285) and running back Javon Thomas (5-9, 175)
Also keep an eye on young, but very gifted 2024 athlete Reggie Workman (5-7, 155).
