This has been a recruiting cycle like no other, with a dead period that is set to expire on June 1st making it hard for the under the radar prospects in the 2021 class to get offers and even harder to make a commitment, with that, there is a plethora of talent still out there, should coaches still be looking. These are in no order.
<a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/9847968/Kole-Jones"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Oscar Smith (Chesapeake) WR Kole Jones</strong></span></a>
The 5'10" Jones, who transferred to Smith from nearby Great Bridge has been a huge part of the offense for the Tigers this season and has had a huge part so far in the playoffs. Jones is a versatile player who can score on offense, special teams, and even defense as he had picked off multiple passes from DB.
Jones has had a very impressive season but has no offers, even though he told me he has been talking with coaches from Old Dominion. Jones could be a steal for any college looking for a good receiver and a threat in the return game. If the season had been played in the fall, I think Jones would be looking at multiple G5/low P5 offers.
<a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13357827/5d9918700427f805d88ea7ef"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Norcom (Portsmouth) ATH Shyheim Cannon</strong></span></a>
Cannon, who was a key at WR for years at Norcom was asked to play QB for the Greyhounds this past season. Despite that, Cannon at the next level is a wide receiver and a good one at that with some very good speed. At one time, Cannon had told me he was considering Western Carolina but now I'm not quite sure where he plans to go.
Shyheim sits at 6'0" and has speed like a track star.
<a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/11215645/5d933d6202b1a5021092e4a1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Oscar Smith DL Keondre Hodges</strong></span></a>
Hodges, who at one time committed to Western Michigan is still available for college coaches and has been a key part of the Oscar Smith defense that coming into the state semis had only allowed nine points all season. Hodges has been in the backfield a lot for the Tigers this season.
Hodges is 6'4" and 260lbs. Recently, Hodges picked up a PWO from Austin Peay. In 2020, Hodges posted a top six of Western Michigan, UMass, Towson, Grambling, Gardner-Webb, and Delaware but it is unclear if those schools are still in the race for Hodges.
<a href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9661337/6073cd6d0dc00019c0d867d0"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Highland Springs (Richmond) QB Juwan Dent</strong></span></a>
Dent is a very athletic QB and has the size as he is 6'5". Dent also plays basketball but currently is in the middle of trying to return Highland Springs to the top of class five as he leads the undefeated Sroingers into the state championship game, trying for a fifth title in six years.
Dent has a PWO from Virginia Union, offers from UVA-Wise, Ferrum, West Virginia Wesleyan, Shenandoah, and Bridgewater among others. Dent would be a steal for any of these schools.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Lake Taylor (Norfolk) QB Jeff Foster</strong></span>
Foster is the definition of underrated. a four-year starter and state champ looking for another has run the veer offense to absolute perfection but don't pigeon-hole him as a running QB, Foster can sling it and inf act did in the Titans state semi-final game. Foster boasts a 4.6 40-yard dash time and great leadership.
Foster is a prototypical dual-threat QB and its honestly a mystery to me why he doesn't have a home yet.
Foster does have offers from Virginia State, Virginia Union, UVA-Wise, and Glenville State.
These are just five on a list of probably 20-30 2021 kids who haven't found their home yet, many due to the pandemic, others due to being late bloomers or just not getting enough exposure.
