Continue ReadingWe’re back again looking at potential prospects to add to the next wave of rankings for the Class of 2022. This second Watch List features some hidden gems that should get the attention of recruiters this fall. Here are the six players that made our second Watch List for the Class of ’22.
Cooper Ramsey – Garden City, 6’4”, 200, DB
Ramsey has the size and versatility to be a solid defender at the collegiate level. During his junior year, Ramsey chipped in 37 total tackles; 10 of which being for a loss, and one forced fumble. He can come down in the box and seal the edge in rush defense, or he can drop back into coverage at safety. Ramsey is good at shedding blocks and he is a textbook tackler. It will be interesting to see where Garden City lines him up at during his senior year.
Ty Farrington – Blue Valley North, 5’11”, 200, LB
Farrington has all the makings of being a 6A All-State linebacker in 2021. The Mustang backer can quickly read plays and fly to the football. He has the versatility to line up inside and outside, and he shows good awareness in pass coverage. Farrington will look to build on his 78.5 tackle and four sack junior year this season.
Patrick Smith – Marysville, 5’10”, 210, RB
Watching Smith run is like seeing a tank move. This young man plows through defenses. Smith went on to rush for over 500 yards, while averaging four yards a carry and scored seven touchdowns in 2020. He displays good vision for a power-back, he can chip in on pass protection, and he has impressive balance from his wrestling background.
Roy Moroni – Hays, 5’11”, 200, RB
Moroni is one of the better running backs in this senior class, but he is flying way under the radar. This is due to him only playing in four games in 2020 though. But when you turn his film on; you can see how talented he is. Moroni has smooth footwork mixed with brute strength. He’ll run through defenders and he is a willing blocker. Moroni could be in line for a huge year with a full season.
Kolten Bennett – Spearville, 6’0”, 180, ATH
Bennett is one of the most well-rounded athletes at the 8-Man level. During his junior campaign he accounted for over 1,200 yards of total offense and scored 10 total touchdowns. He also racked up 62 total tackles, one sack and one forced fumble on defense. Bennett can play multiple positions on offense, and I would expect for him to be heavily used during his senior season.
Levi Knoll – Holcomb, 5’10”, 185, ATH
Knoll is a playmaker in all three phases of the game. He stuffed his stat-line in 2020, accumulating over 1,100 all-purpose yards with nine touchdowns, and 60 total tackles with a pair of interceptions and forced fumbles. Knoll is great at getting yards after the catch, and he sees the field very well at safety. Look for Knoll to continue to put up numbers this fall.
