The definition of what makes an athlete can be difficult to pinpoint. On the football field, the term was not used extensively until relatively recently. The term "athlete" is reserved for the playmaker. Put him on the field, give him the ball and get the highlight tape ready. For coaches looking to find the next game-changer, provides the fertile recruiting ground they are looking for. Today we will take a look at some of the Class of 2022’s as they get ready for their senior seasons.
Up first, we have [player_tooltip player_id="39053" first="Javon" last="Tracy"]. Out of Decatur Central, Tracy has a very unique versatility about him. Tracy can electrify both on offense as well as special teams. Tracy totaled fifteen touchdowns in his junior campaign for Decatur Central. On top of his return ability, Javon can play both running back and wide receiver. He was amongst the state’s leaders in yards per punt return in 2020. All signs are pointing toward big things in the future of [player_tooltip player_id="39053" first="Javon" last="Tracy"].
The next standout on our list is [player_tooltip player_id="98004" first="Justin" last="Browder"] High School. Justin appears in all three phases for Cardinal Ritter and he makes his presence felt. Browder plays punt returner, wide receiver, safety and running back for Cardinal Ritter. Playing in an area as talent-rich as Indianapolis can cause some to struggle. Browder is the exception as he has carved out his niche making plays in all areas of the game. Those who are searching for prospect who will make an impact on every down need to give [player_tooltip player_id="98004" first="Justin" last="Browder"] a serious look.
A trip to suburban Indianapolis brings us to our next prospect, [player_tooltip player_id="97823" first="Cael" last="Vanderbush"]. Cael is a standout at Plainfield High School. Vanderbush is a threat by land and by air. In his junior campaign, Vanderbush accumulated well over seven hundred yards receiving and grabbed six touchdown receptions. If that is not enough, he also chipped over one hundred yards rushing. But Vanderbush does not just take advantage of good field position, he creates it. Vanderbush provided Plainfield with over four hundred kick return yards last season. All of that took place as a junior, proving that the sky is the limit with [player_tooltip player_id="97823" first="Cael" last="Vanderbush"].
We wrap up this particular list with a look at Ben Davis playmaker [player_tooltip player_id="39064" first="Dillon" last="Moore"]. Moore is another player who provides major contribution in all three phases. Offensively Moore is a standout receiver who hauled in thirty passes a year ago. On the defensive side of the ball he is a tackling machine. Moore also makes a major difference in the return game. [player_tooltip player_id="39064" first="Dillon" last="Moore"] has all the tools necessary and he is poised to have a big 2021 season leading Ben Davis.
Indiana is loaded with playmaker athletes. There is still a lot of talent to discuss in this area and I would like to do that later this spring. Coaches at the next level who are looking to inject some energy into their programs need to get this incredible student-athletes on to their radars. As for the fans lucky enough to watch these prospects dominate on Friday nights next fall, get your popcorn ready. Because, these guys are ready to put on a show.
