Continue ReadingArcher’s football program has always managed to compete with some of the best teams in the state, and if opposing teams are not careful, Archer is the kind of team that can go on a run. Over the past few years, the Tigers have had their own share of ups and downs, but have managed to make it to the playoffs more often times than not. In recent years, when they have reached playoffs, they have seen heartbreak, and short lived success. Specifically, they saw their hopes get cut short last year in the second round, as they fell to Milton 17-9. This upcoming season, with plenty of their returning starters, they will be as strong as any program out there.
Charick Alexander- DB
Even though Alexander may remain a bit unknown to plenty of football fans, his ability to ignite a fire for the Tigers is undeniable. Not only is a he a good return man, but as a DB, he displays solid ball skills, and the ability to play decently well in zone coverage. While Alexander may not be the fastest prospect, his burst and ability to get out of his breaks makes up for this fact, and also helps him to be in good place to make plays. Alexander also does a solid job of making tackles in pursuit, and takes good angles in doing so, which is big time for the defense in game changing situations. Next season, expect him to make a jump in his ability, and to continue to be a big part of what the Tigers attempt to do defensively.
Caleb Wooden Caleb Wooden 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Archer | 2022 State GA – DB
Wooden is perhaps the most valuable player on the team, especially due to his range, and ability to make plays anywhere on the field. He plays a very fast, and reactionary style of football, and proves to have no problem going up to get the ball when it is in the air. Along with this, he also does a good job in coverage, as he matches up well in man, and reads the offense well when he is in zone. Wooden is solid at coming up to make tackles, and shows a natural ability to get out of his breaks as well, which is huge for his team when they need a tackle on ball carriers. One of the things we like most about his upside is his ability to move fluidly, and to play smart football. As the 2021 season approaches, expect him to continue to be a staple in the team’s success.
DJ Moore DJ Moore 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Archer | 2022 GA – WR
Watching Moore play football is exciting due to his big play ability, and the fact that anytime the ball is in his hands, it has a chance of making it to the house. Moore displays good ball skills, strong hands, and can track the ball very well. He does not have much of a problem of gaining separation in press-man situations, and also has solid footwork. His short area quickness, and sudden burst also make him a big time threat to defenses. While we would like to see him refine his route running skills, we think he does a good enough job to get by, and that he has tons of developmental ability in this area due to his natural movement skills. Expect him to continue to rack up offers in 2021, as we think he could be a steal for any team who wants to give him a chance.
Chase Sellers- RB
Even though Sellers does not have any notable offers yet, we still think that his best football is certainly ahead of him. He may be a bit undersized, but his ability to play aggressive and instinctive football is what sets him apart. Out of the backfield, Sellers is very explosive, and his ability to read the defense and to react quickly, and naturally, is what helps him to slice through multiple levels of the defense. Along with this, he also does a good job of running strong, and through contact, with lower body strength. Sellers also runs at a good pad level, with power behind his pads, which makes it hard for defenders to bring him down. In 2021, he will likely have a strong season, especially due to his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and cause match up problems for defenses.
