The Baltimore County spring football season came to an end this past weekend. The initial 6 game season was hindered by uncertainty, a county- wide cancellation in week one, and declined participation; but was completed successfully. Several athletes who already held college scholarships chose to opt-out of their senior year, but this gave many other players the opportunity to step into the spotlight. Perhaps the success of a spring season might be a sign of things to come in the state of Maryland moving forward, similar to our southern counterparts. In the meantime, here is a list of some of the top players in the county. Quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id="90321" first="Rishon" last="Holmes"] Milford Mill Academy 6’2’’ 205 Holmes was just simply dominant and the Top Offensive player in the county. He led the Millers to an undefeated season, and was able to stifle defenses with his arm and legs. Jailen Knight Perry Hall HS 6’0’’ 180 Knight helped the Gators to one of the biggest turnarounds of the year. After going win-less last season, Perry Hall was a force to be dealt with this year and Jailen Knight’s arm was a big part of that. Running Backs Rodney Nelson Franklin HS 5’8’’ 170 Nelson had one of the most productive seasons in the state for a running back. The speedy Junior shared the backfield last year with Oregon commit, [player_tooltip player_id="90463" first="Von" last="Reames"], but was able to show his dominance this year and lead Franklin to an undefeated season. [player_tooltip player_id="90600" first="Zavion" last="Woodard"] New Town HS 5’8’’ 190 Woodard continues to be one of the best running backs in the state. For the past two seasons, he has been on of the state’s leading rushers. James Jones Owings Mills 6’2’’ 200 Jones is a dominant force in the backfield who has one of the best combinations of size and speed in the state. Wide Receivers Jonathan Thompson Dulaney HS 6’2’’ 190 Thompson was a home run threat for the Lions offense this past season. His size & speed created mismatches for defensive backs. Speedy Morante Franklin HS 5’11’’ 170 Speedy ,who played plenty of snaps at defensive back this past season, still managed to be one of the most dominating receivers in the county. Marcus Nicholson Dundalk HS 6’2’’ 190 Nicholson was a force for the Owls this past season. The Junior receiver consistently made plays every week and helped Dundalk to a 4-1 record. Tight Ends Gino Pisano Hereford HS 6’2’’ 220 Pisano was the main passing option for the Bulls in a run heavy offense. Even with opposing teams preparing for Pisano, he still managed to be one of the best Tight Ends in the county. Quinten Wright Overlea HS 6’4’’ 225 Wright’s size, leaping ability, and hands created a mismatch for opposing defensive backs. The Falcons’ Senior athlete was also used to create match up problems lining up as a true wide receiver, and managed to create an equal amount of havoc on the defensive side of the ball. Athletes Jaden Gordon Woodlawn HS 5’11’’ 170 Gordon, who is only a Sophomore, proved to be one of the most explosive athletes in the county. He played a number of position for the Warriors this past season such as a quarterback, receiver, defensive back, & running back. Tahseen Howard Millford Mill Academy 6’1’’ 190 Howard made plays for the Millers on both sides of the ball this past season. Even with him backing up the Millers’ play-maker, [player_tooltip player_id="90321" first="Rishon" last="Holmes"], at Quarterback he managed to be an equally imposing threat for opposing defenses. Tahseen also was force in the Milford secondary. Offensive Line Zyan Bridges 6’2’’ 270 Parkville HS Bridges has quick feet for an offensive lineman and was the main reason why the Knights had one of the top rushing attacks in the state. Angel Figueroa 6’1’’ 280 Milford Mill Academy Figueroa was a big part of the reason why Milford Mill Academy had one of the most explosive offenses in the state. Brandon Carr 6’4’’ 305 Franklin HS Carr helped spearhead one of the state’s top programs to an undefeated season. Brandon Ritchie 6’1 330 Woodlawn HS Ritchie was one of the more dominant run blocking linemen in the county. Plays with a chip on his shoulder and an attitude that you look for in offensive linemen. [player_tooltip player_id="90439" first="Branden" last="Hollis"] 6’8’’ 345 Dundalk HS Hollis is a massive figure and has the prototypical frame to play at the next level. He was a big part of the Owls success on both sides of the ball. Honorable Mention Keyshawn Silver- RB- Milford Mill Academy [player_tooltip player_id="90399" first="Amir" last="Renwick"]- RB- Milford Mill Academy Cameron Hughes -RB - Owings Mills HS Niem Snowden - WR- Milford Mill Academy Gavin Nelson - WR- Franklin HS Kamar Cosby - ATH- Owings Mills HS David Streeter - ATH- Overlea HS Nick Schielfebein- OL- Dulaney HS Blair Mcborrough- OL- Parkville HS
