The state of Arkansas has numerous 2023 players that have the potential to have impressive 2021 seasons. In this article, we are going to take a look at several of those players. We will see that the talent is not just localized to one region in the state. The talent is pretty spread out through the state and that is going to make things interesting in November when the playoffs approach.
[player_tooltip player_id="106759" first="Isiah" last="Kendall"]-Wide Receiver-Newport
One player that has really started to pop up on radars everywhere is Newport wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="106759" first="Isiah" last="Kendall"]. The 6-5 prospect is a massive red zone target for Newport quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="75108" first="Eli" last="Alcorn"]. Kendall has the athletic ability to out jump opposing defensive backs. He does an excellent job of being able to high point the football. Kendall has good speed and can create separation with his speed. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators and he has the potential to have an excellent 2021 season.
[player_tooltip player_id="75137" first="Jabrae" last="Shaw"]-Athlete-Watson Chapel
Shaw is a nightmare of a matchup for opposing defensive coordinators. He lines up all over the field for the Wildcats. However, he sees the majority of the action from the running back and quarterback positions. From the running back position, Shaw is a patient runner that does an excellent job of picking his rushing lanes. Meanwhile, from the quarterback position, he does a terrific job of extending the play, but he does a good job of keeping his eyes down the field to make the throw. Shaw is a player with tremendous potential, and I expect him to have an excellent season for Watson Chapel.
[player_tooltip player_id="97101" first="Luke" last="King"]-Quarterback-Hazen
The Hazen quarterback has a tremendously, strong arm. King throws an accurate football, and he does a good job of scanning the field and making the smart throw. King does not mind running the football and he does a great job of picking up key first downs with the use of his legs. King has good speed and is shifty enough to pick up extra yards. However, he is looking to make the throw to the open wide receiver before he pulls the ball down and runs with it. King has the potential to land on division one radars this year and I would not be shocked to see him do so.
[player_tooltip player_id="132412" first="Jaden" last="Foster"]-Defensive End-Sylvan Hills
Foster is looking to build on a season where he earned 6-A All-Conference honors. In 2020, Foster became a force on the defensive line. He racked up 29 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and six sacks. Foster is impressive at fending off blocks and getting into the opposing offensive backfield. Foster using his quickness well to get into the backfield. Opposing offensive lines are going to have problems with his speed and just how quickly he can bring the quarterback down. Scouts should plan on catching some Sylvan Hills’ games, he is going to become a well-known name this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="122156" first="Allen" last="Thomason"]-Offensive Line-Pulaski Academy
Thomason is an extremely important piece of the Pulaski Academy offense going into this season. He clears a path for the Pulaski Academy rushing attack. He does a terrific job of blocking on screens and in his pass blocking. Thomason has the frame at 6-5 and 255-pounds to support more weight at the next level. With two seasons to play at Pulaski Academy, Thomason has the potential to turn into one of the state’s best offensive lineman. Look for Thomason to catch the attention of scouts this season and really explode on to the recruiting scene.
