So far this offseason, we have seen how the Class of 2022 stands out as one of Indiana’s deepest quarterback classes in quite some time. Today, we take a look at some more top signal-callers in the state. I will have one more article that evaluates the rest of the quarterbacks that are in our state rankings and, later this offseason, I plan on writing about the QB’s who are currently flying under the radar. But for today, we take a look at four more outstanding prospects at the most important position in all of sports. These are guys who are sure to attract plenty of attention. So, college coaches need to give them a serious look.
[player_tooltip player_id="98082" first="Zachary" last="Osborne"], 6’2, 195 pounds, Carmel
Carmel High School has produced a lot of top-tier talent over the years. [player_tooltip player_id="98082" first="Zachary" last="Osborne"] is set to be the next in that great lineage. Osborne sees the field very well. He does a tremendous job running the read option and he makes great throws on RPO plays. What also stands out about Osborne is his mobility. Osborne moves around the pocket very well and he can comfortably escape the pocket in order to extend plays. He routinely hurts opposing defenses with his legs. Osborne has the ability to create a big play, even when the play begins to break down. [player_tooltip player_id="98082" first="Zachary" last="Osborne"] is a prospect who shows the great football intelligence that makes somebody a top prospect and he has all the tools needed in order to be successful at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="98083" first="J’uan" last="Swanson"], 6’1, 185 pounds, Ben Davis
Ben Davis is a team that could compete very well in Class 6A this season and [player_tooltip player_id="98083" first="J’uan" last="Swanson"] is a big reason why. Swanson has great arm talent. This is demonstrated on his highlight tape, by numerous throws where he stretches the field vertically. On top of that, he can make the difficult throw to the wide side of the field. There is a fluidity in the game of [player_tooltip player_id="98083" first="J’uan" last="Swanson"]. He can move around the pocket and evade rushers with ease. The combination of his arm talent and what he can do with his legs, makes Swanson a perfect quarterback for the next level. Swanson’s game is a great exhibition of where quarterback play is heading, and that should make any college coach interested.
[player_tooltip player_id="98039" first="Ethan" last="Brawdy"], 5’11, 185 pounds, Evansville North
[player_tooltip player_id="98039" first="Ethan" last="Brawdy"] serves as Evansville North’s punter, which is extremely ironic, considering that his skillset typically helps his offense avoid having to punt the football. Brawdy is another mobile quarterback, however, I am extremely impressed with his ability to make great throws on the run. While on the move, Brawdy shows good throwing mechanics and he throws a ball that is both accurate and on time. Brawdy can also make great plays on the ground. [player_tooltip player_id="98039" first="Ethan" last="Brawdy"] puts pressure on the defense in so many different ways. Brawdy is a quarterback that I believe is just beginning to scratch the surface and I see big things coming from [player_tooltip player_id="98039" first="Ethan" last="Brawdy"] in the 2021 season.
[player_tooltip player_id="98041" first="Greg" last="Bolt"], 6’4, 210 pounds, Columbia City
[player_tooltip player_id="98041" first="Greg" last="Bolt"] is a quarterback who has outstanding arm talent. Bolt can drive any throw right to the intended receiver. He shows the ability to test the defense vertically. He has the strength to comfortably drives his throws from the hash mark to the far sideline. Bolt also the ability to make plays with his legs. His deep ball is very good. Bolt can hit a receiver in stride and his ability to generate big plays always gives defensive backs something extra to think about. Bolt is somebody that has big-play potential on every snap. I think we are going to see [player_tooltip player_id="98041" first="Greg" last="Bolt"] take a big leap forward this season.
The quarterback depth in Indiana’s Class of 2022 is remarkable. These are elite prospects who have what it takes to take any program to the next level. These student-athletes show tremendous poise and the constant ability to hurt any opposing defense. These outstanding players have the potential to lead their teams to special seasons this year. 2021 will be a big opportunity for these quarterbacks.
