As we know, the 2020 high school football season was not friendly to most in Florida – or the nation – for that matter.
What this season came down to was survival – and getting to play as many games as possible – while still being safe.
For head coach Rhett Summerford and his Pensacola West Florida team – it came down to a six game season – and a 4-2 record.
In between losses to 2019 6A runner up Pensacola Escambia (24-20) and to 5A 2020 state runner up Tallahassee Rickards (38-16), this program did quite well.
Wins over Pensacola Catholic (31-0), Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee (28-21), Pensacola Pine Forest (13-0) and Pensacola High (40-7) gave this program plenty of optimism moving forward with a number of key prospects returning.
RISING SENIOR CLASS HAS THE EXPERIENCE
If this program is going to make some noise this coming season, it will be on the shoulders of a very talented Class of 2022 group.
Among those prospects who will be counted on by the Jaguars include
Aubrey Caldwell (LB, 6-1, 186), Trey Carlisle (DB, 5-10, 170), Lamond Green (Athlete, 6-1, 170), Aaron Hardaway (OL, 6-2, 250), Keion Johnson (RB, 5-11, 210), Devan Knight (DB, 5-11, 170) and linebacker Elijah Larkins (6-2, 215).
In addition, the rising senior class will have Ke’Shaun McGee (DB, 6-0, 175), Audric Moultrie (OL, 6-4, 290), Enrique Randolph (LB, 5-9, 205) and receiver J.T. Winton (5-10, 165).
When talking about the future and the depth this program has – Class of 2023 promising standouts like Marcus Archer (OL, 6-2, 295), Zeyvian Avery (OLB, 6-3, 215), Markell Redding (QB, 5-11, 180) and Cooper Theriot (QB, 6-2, 175) all will add to something that is growing and progressing.
